Impulse Hammers with TEDS |
| |
Dytran
Instruments, Inc. now offers impulse hammers with TEDS capability.
The 5800BT Series is a new family of impulse hammers (similar to the
5800B Series) which feature acceleration compensation and IEEE 1451.4
TEDS. With a head weight of 100 grams, they are available in five
ranges, between 50 LbF and 1,000 LbF. The 5800BT Series utilize an
exclusive acceleration compensated quartz force sensor to ensure that
hammer self-resonances do not produce spurious “bumps” in the hammer
output spectrum. The high rigidity of the force sensor combined with
acceleration compensation produces a clean, smooth output signal which
is an exact representation of the forcing function, both in amplitude
and phase. Dytran’s piezoelectric impulse hammers of a head assembly

Colibrys launches world’s best open-loop
MEMS accelerometer displacing traditional high cost, fragile solutions. |
| |
|
Colibrys confirm launching today the IRIS accelerometer family,
world’s best open-loop MEMS accelerometer, to displace traditional
vibrating quartz and electromechanical solutions. MEMS establishes a new
competition to historical high-end motion sensors, as typically offered
by Honeywell, by pushing the boundaries of its performances, offering
higher robustness at reduced cost in safety critical and harsh
environment applications. The first product released based on IRIS
technology is RS9010.A. This ±10g sensor specifically designed for AHRS
(Attitude Heading and Reference Systems) and mid accuracy navigation
application offers an order of magnitude improvement over existing
leading MEMS technology and now seriously compete with traditional
vibrating quartz and electromechanical solutions. This product uses an
open loop electronic interface, specifically designed for long term
stability. The enhanced sensor design provides an overall composite
repeatability of bias better than 1.5mg (17) for ±10g and a scale factor
repeatability of 500ppm (17). The vibration rectification coefficient is
150μg/g². “RS9010 will enable the AHRS designers to obtain excellent
performance at reduced cost while benefitting from the inherently rugged
MEMS sensor, which open new application opportunities and simplifies
sensor handling during the manufacturing process” commented Soheil
Habibi, Business Development Manager for Colibrys inertial sensors. He
added further “IRIS is a big step forward in realizing our vision to

PCB Piezotronics Introduces New
Submersible Accelerometers |
| |
PCB Piezotronics, Inc.
introduces a sealed, watertight, integral cable assembly that ensures
signal fidelity is not compromised due to liquid ingress. Available on
many PCB® sensors, this alternative sealing technique is extremely
valuable when used in gearboxes, transmissions, flow tubes and valves,
sealed chemical reactors with mixers, and when measuring structural
reactions to turbulence. In many industries, a component or location
that requires testing or monitoring may be splashed or submerged in
water, oil, or other liquid rendering the test invalid and possibly even
destroying the senor. While consideration must be given to the sensor
housing material, accelerometers are devices that generate electrical
signals. In order to prevent contamination and degradation of the
measurement signal via the cable, it is imperative to protect the signal
transmission path to make certain the liquid will not chemically
compromise the seal; using a PCB sensor with the new watertight integral
cable assembly virtually eliminates worry, downtime, and added expenses,
allowing for continued, accurate measurements. PCB Piezotronics, Inc. is
a global leader in the design and manufacture of force, torque, load,
strain, pressure, acoustic and vibration sensors ... |
