Improved ease-of-use for AHRS/GPS from
Xsens |
| |
|
Xsens Technologies, supplier of the widely used MTi-range of
inertial motion trackers, has released new software to further improve
user experience. The innovative software and firmware contains
predefined settings for optimized orientation output in several specific
application areas. Applications relying on data output for orientation,
stabilization or navigation will be benefiting most from this new
software. The new firmware of the MTi and the MTi-G includes strongly
improved algorithms for increased performance under various conditions.
The completely revised SDK contains an easy-to-use MT Manager software
tool to configure, record and display the outputs of the IMU/AHRS/GPS in
real-time. Xsens is developer of inertial motion trackers based on MEMS
technology. These products are used as orientation sensors in various
markets, like automotive, aerospace and marine ... |

Inexpensive, Non Contact Thermometer
Sensor offers Narrow Field Of View |
| |
Ieper,
Belgium - To expand on its automotive proven family of intelligent
infrared, non contact thermometers, Melexis introduces the
MLX90614xAC with narrow Field Of View (FOV). Currently shipping versions
of the MLX90614 non contact temperature sensor have a wide Field Of View
of 90 degrees and target air conditioning and room heater applications.
The MLX90614xAC now being introduced has a Field Of View of only 35
degrees. Design engineers can now measure smaller objects or increase
the sensor-object distance with this thermometer. The 35 degree FOV was
chosen as the minimal Field Of View achievable without the use of costly
infrared optics, while still achieving the excellent accuracy
specifications of the original MLX90614. In detail: The 35 degree Field
Of View of the MLX90614xAC is obtained by adding a viewing angle
limiting metal tube to the standard TO-39 housing of the MLX90614. By
performing the calibration of the thermometer after this tube has been
attached, the accuracy of the temperature measurements can be
maintained. Luc Buydens, Marketing Manager of infrared sensor products
at Melexis, comments ... |

Reference Pressure Transmitters -
Top-Class Pressure Transmitters |
| |
Pressure
Transmitters with Mathematical Compensation: KELLER AG has now
redefined the state-of-the-art in high precision pressure measurement
technology with its Series 33 X and 35 X pressure transmitters. A
floating measurement cell, totally digital signal processing,
compensation with mathematical accuracy and a highly dynamic
microprocessor – these assets produce reference accuracies of up to 0,05
%FS error bandwidth. The floating piezoresistive sensor element is free
of outside influence from mechanical and thermal forces at the pressure
connection. The A/D converter in the signal processor operates with a
resolution of 16 bits (0,002 %FS), using the signals from the pressure
sensor and the integrated temperature sensor to calculate accurate
compensated measurement values in just a few milliseconds. The
transmitter’s analogue output is updated at least 400 times per second,
with overall accuracy of 0,05 %FS (including temperature influence in
the 10 °C…40 °C range). As an option, precision of 0,01 %FS in the same
temperature range is available, in relation to the reference values of
primary standards (accuracy: 0,025 %). ... |

Integrated Light Sensor Exceeds 15 Years
of Lifetime |
| |
Melexis
adds light-to-voltage sensor to the SensorEyeCTM series. Melexis
announces the launch of the MLX75305 Light-to-Voltage SensorEyeCTM. This
is the second member of the SensorEyeCTM series of optical sensors
specifically designed for high volume automotive, industrial and
consumer applications. The light sensor’s output gives a voltage that
varies linearly with incident light. This MLX75305 is an integrated
sensor IC, which means that the photodiode, transimpedance amplifier and
linear voltage output stage are all included in the sensor chip. This
guarantees stable light responsivity over time and over temperature, and
also drastically improves noise behavior when compared to designs that
use discrete photodiodes. It simplifies application design, requires
fewer external components and improves quality. The first SensorEyeCTM
device - the dirt-robust MLX75303 Optical Switch - was launched in April
2008. More than 15 Years of Lifetime: Melexis did not wait 15 years
before bringing this light sensor to the market. ... |

Barflex IrDA – Portable Pressure Gauge
with Integrated Memory |
| |
With
their Barflex IrDA, Baumer’s product segment Process
Instrumentation offers a portable electronic pressure gauge with
integrated memory for data acquisition on site. The collected data can
be transferred to any PC via an infrared interface. The device is very
easy to handle and most suitable for the measurement of liquids and
gases. The device is designed in an epoxy-coated aluminium case making
it ideal for measurements in the field. The pressure transmitter is
based on the Transbar technology and therefore suitable for measuring
most of the media. Installed on a pressure measurement point of a
process, the Barflex IrDA enables automatic and continuous data
acquisition. Up to 16.000 points maximum in different time intervals can
be recorded. The grading reaches from 0.5 sec to one hour. Therefore
both fast measurements and long-term measurements are possible. ... |

IMI Sensors New Patented Bearing Fault
Detector Senses Rolling Element Bearing Impacts ... |
| |
Depew,
NY, USA – The IMI Sensors division of PCB Piezotronics (PCB®) has
released the patented Model 682A05 Bearing Fault Detector (US Patent
6,889,553), an industry exclusive, which senses impacts within rolling
element bearings caused by bearing faults. This type of detection
provides early warning of typical bearing faults such as cracked races,
spalling, brinelling, fatigue failure, looseness, and loss of
lubrication. The Bearing Fault Detector uses a patented true peak
picking mechanism that is ultra sensitive to impacts in bearings, and
thus provides warning of problems in their earliest stages of
development. This type of warning is not generally provided by
traditional overall vibration level monitoring techniques. The DIN rail
mounted unit accepts an industry standard ICP® accelerometer input. ... |

Designing Greener Cars Requires
Sophisticated Testing |
| |
Sensor
Technology Ltd: The automotive industry’s race to develop a new
generation of high Performance, low emissions power plants has lead to
the emergence of high capability test beds that simultaneously monitor
multiple parameters. The sector is pinning many of its hopes for the
future on the development of electric/petrol and electric/diesel hybrid
engines integrated with known performance enhancing technologies such as
fuel injectors and superchargers. Other projects are looking at marrying
other ‘green’ options such as regenerative braking and kinetic energy
storage with hybrid engines. The once-humble test bed can now require as
much engineering design as the power plants themselves if they are to be
able to monitor multiple parameters simultaneously. However for them to
be efficiently usable they have to be, at heart, as simple as possible.
This need has been converted into a market opportunity for a specialist
torque sensor firm in Oxfordshire. Sensor Technology produces TorqSense,
an in-line digital torque sensor ... |
