Mini-Mixer will be the torque of many
industries |
| |
Sensor
Technology Ltd: A torque sensor is helping analyse recipes’ mixing
properties in a project that could slash development costs in the food
and plastics industry and help nanotechnology advances in the
pharmaceuticals world. The research and development is being carried out
at the University of Bradford by Professor Hadj Benkreira and Dr Raj
Patel in collaboration with Dr Martin Gale, formerly of RAPRA Technology
(Shawbury) now Visiting Professor. They have been developing a miniature
mixer (5-25 grams batch) that incorporates a set of integral instruments
to monitor the properties of materials as they are being mixed. The
instruments work in real time during the mixing process and their output
is captured to a PC for subsequent analysis. Software is being written
so that the analysis can be performed simultaneously with the mixing and
perhaps even used to interactively control the mixer itself. One of the
key parameters to be measured is the torque of the mixing element, as
this will become constant once mixing is complete. This is measured by a
TorqSense non-contact sensor ... |

Latest absolute pressure transducer
provides Top Class safety |
| |
HBM:
The P3 Top Class series of absolute pressure transducers gives increased
accuracy and significantly enhanced temperature behavior for
applications that demand extremely high process safety. The transducers
are available in 6-wire configuration. The integrated PT 100 resistance
thermometer can be used for external compensation while additional
sensor leads acquire temperature values. Both configurations eliminate
accuracy losses that may result from long cables. The transducer is
supplied with a two-page test report that includes individually
documented values, for example, for the relative deviation from the
fitting curve. The test report enables corrections to be made in the
amplifier and thus to increase the accuracy of the measurement chain. . ... |

JUMO ecoLine and tecLine - pH and ORP
combination electrodes for swimming pools |
| |
JUMO:
The condition of swimming and bathing pool water must by law be such
that it does not constitute a risk to human health. Numerous
measurements are needed for checking the quality of the pool water. The
most important parameters for the pool water quality are the pH value
and ORP. DIN 19643 stipulates which values these two parameters must
have. Depending on the type of bathing water (fresh water or sea water),
the measurements are not allowed to go above or below the range 6.5 to
7.8 pH and 700 to 770 mV. The pH value can affect the disinfection,
flocculation and filtration of the water. An excessive pH will, for
instance, reduce the disinfectant effect of the hypochlorite. The ORP
can be used to evaluate the bactericidal effect of the water in the
pool. This then enables more efficient application of the disinfectant
agents. . ... |
