Xsens wins Innovation Award with Moven |
| |
The
inertial motion capture suit Moven developed by Xsens Technologies
B.V. has won the Overijssel Innovation Award 2007. The suit is based
on Xsens' proven inertial sensor technology allowing total freedom of
movement. The award-winning Moven is used for character animation in
gaming and film industry, virtual reality applications e.g. in the
defence industry and human movement analysis in rehabilitation or sports
sciences. The motivation of the jury is based on 'the proven successes',
'the innovative technology', 'the quality of the entrepreneurship' and
'the unique aspects of the product'. The jury was particularly impressed
by the advantages of not being limited to a studio or lab: Moven can be
used anywhere, outside as well as inside. Compared to other inertial
MoCap systems, Moven is unique because it can capture any type of
movement, including running, jumping, crawling, cartwheels even head
spins. These revolutionary aspects of Moven, combined with the
professional organization of Xsens led to the positive judgment of the
jury. ... |

ATEX approved Pressure Meters /
Controllers with fieldbus interface |
| |

The new IN-PRESS Pressure Meters by Bronkhorst High-Tech, The
Netherlands, are modular instruments of rugged design according IP65
(dust- and waterproof). They can be combined with close-coupled control
valves to form compact digital Pressure Controllers, whereby pressure
ranges are measured and controlled within the range of 0-100 mbar up to
0-400 bar. Two styles are available; forward pressure control and back
pressure control. The instruments are ATEX approved for use in Category
3, Zone 2 hazardous areas. The instruments have analog I/O-signals and
also an RS232 connection as a standard feature. In addition to this
there is the possibility of integrating an interface board with
DeviceNet™, Profibus-DP®, Modbus or FLOW-BUS protocol. The basic
pc-board features integrated PID Control and various alarm and
diagnostic functions. ... |

World’s best vaccum seals tested but not
touched |
| |
Sensor
Technology Ltd: TorqSense, a non-contact digital torque monitoring
system that could guarantee an infinite lightness of touch has proven to
be the only way to test the seals of super high performance vacuum
systems. The ultimate fields of precision manufacture, such as
electronics, biophysics and thin film deposition where tolerances are
measured in atoms, are often conducted in hard vacuum to remove airborne
contaminants and avoid the performance reducing effects of tiny air
movements. However the vast majority of vacuum chamber designs require
seals for rotary drive shafts (called rotary feedthroughs) and
‘feedthroughs’ for the passage of materials, components, tools and
finished products. In high vacuum applications conventional seals are
unlikely to be able to achieve the performance specifications required,
so magnetic fluid seals are used. A ferrofluid is a stable colloidal
suspension of sub-domain magnetic nano particles in a liquid carrier.
The particles, which have an average size of ... |

Nano-Proprietary, Inc. to Receive $1.6
Million Defense Appropriation for Biological Threat and Chemical Air
Purification System |
| |
|
Austin, Texas-based Nano-Proprietary, Inc. (OTC BB: NNPP), through its
subsidiary, Applied Nanotech, Inc. (ANI), today announced that as
a result of the successful completion of its initial project, it will
receive $1.6 million for further development of its PhotoScrub® concept,
a thin film coating on a flexible fiberglass cloth that decomposes
pollutants at the molecular level in gases and liquids. This funding was
included in the 2008 Defense Appropriations Bill recently signed by the
President. The PhotoScrub® concept is based on an air-purification
technology originally developed by one of our strategic partners, Andes
Electric, Co. Ltd., and currently uses nano-structured photocatalyst
materials that decompose air contaminants and pollutants at the
molecular level in solid, liquid and gaseous samples. The funds will be
utilized to integrate the PhotoScrub® concept into an HVAC system and
build a prototype integrated unit. “This is another example of our
ability to develop processes at the nano-level that ... |
