24 Channels for CoMo® Injection |
| |
CoMo
Injection process monitoring system Type 2869A… enables zero-defect
injection molding production by analyzing the cavity pressure curve.
Kistler has continued to develop and enhance the functionality of
this process monitoring system that has enjoyed worldwide success. Up
until now the units that evaluate the variation in mold cavity pressure
have been equipped with eight channels. From K 2007 onwards, two new
classes of equipment with more channels will be offered. Smaller system
has 12 channels: eight for pressure and four for voltage signals. For
pressure sensors a choice is offered between multi-channel connectors
with four channels (Type 2869B1…) or eight channels (Type 2869B2…).
Large system Type 2869B3... with 24 input channels comprises 16 pressure
and eight voltage inputs and is equipped with two 8-channel connectors
for pressure sensors. The voltage inputs can be used with multichannel
thermocouple amplifier Type 2205A… for combined pressure and temperature
sensors or for machine signals.

Smart sensor solution for automotive
electronics industry by VTI |
| |
The
new VTI automotive digital accelerometer family has been designed
to support the trend towards intelligent integration and smart sensing
combined with improved reliability and sophisticated self-test features.
The products comply with the stringent requirements of a wide range of
automotive applications that need sophisticated yet robust sensing
technology. The new digital sensor platform offers our customers a very
cost effective system solution in diverse applications, states Markku
Hirvonen, CEO of VTI Group. Customer response has been very good and a
number of leading companies have taken up the new digital platform. They
have been very pleased by the performance, good offset stability and
robustness of the sensors for automotive use, of which we are
particularly proud. "Systems integrators are looking for smart sensors
that are compact and easy to integrate. The VTI digital platform uses a
common component package for all its sensors, for example," Kimmo
Rauhala, Executive Vice President, Automotive Business Unit of VTI Group
points out. Compared to analog sensors, our digital products are
smaller, more cost competitive and even easier to use.

Vibration Motor Driver IC creates
worldwide buzz in personal handsets with best in class efficiency and
ultra small package |
| |
Ringtones
are a common way to personalize ones cell phone, PDA or iPhone but often
a discrete notification of incoming calls or scheduled events require a
vibrating alert. Unfortunately the vibrating alert has been a very power
hungry function relying on a micro-miniature DC motor spinning an
eccentric weight at high speeds. The launch of Melexis MLX90283
brings new capabilities in packaging and power efficiency to this
ubiquitous feature. This single phase brushless vibration motor driver
IC will allow increased battery life while still delivering strong and
clearly detected vibrations. It can also benefit applications for force
feedback or haptic interfaces in gaming systems, both handheld and home
systems. High Motor Efficiency: The MLX90283 integrates Hall-effect
sensor, digital and power driver circuitry into a low profile
Ultra-thin QFN package and introduces the new proprietary ‘Active Start’
design to improve single phase vibration motor start-up reliability. The
operating voltage range from 1.8V to 3.6V perfectly suits
battery-powered applications. Vibration motors are mostly battery
powered and are subject to stringent input power requirements. ... |

VTI signs distributor agreement with Acte
A/S in Denmark |
| |
|
VTI Technologies Oy and ACTE A/S, have signed a distributor
agreement. According to the agreement, ACTE A/S sells and markets VTI's
motion and pressure sensors in Denmark. "In addition to VTI's proven
T-series inclinometers for harsh environments, VTI's latest new
products, the SCA3000 (3-axis accelerometer) and the SCP1000 (pressure
sensor) address new applications and new business segments. The
cooperation with ACTE A/S makes it possible for us to capitalize on
these new opportunities as we expand our visibility and improve customer
service in Denmark, says Harry Lilja, Business Line Director, VTI
Technologies Oy. ACTE A/S Denmark will start to accept customer orders
for VTI's products for testing and prototype purposes immediately. ACTE
A/S will store the most common VTI components for production needs and
also offers project specific buffer services. "The new SCA3000 series
digital 3-axis accelerometers as well as the T-series inclinometers are
a great match to our customers' activities. With this new agreement,
Acte is quickly becoming a leading player in Denmark for asset tracking
equipment and industrial control applications. We are looking forward to
a very successful partnership", says Jimmy Austin, Line Manager, ACTE
A/S Denmark. ... |

Compass inclinometer |
| |
In
addition to providing NMEA magnetic heading data, these rugged modules
from Fluxgate world also provide both pitch and roll angle up to
±45º from horizontal with a resolution of 0.1º. Expected to have several
areas of application in marine control systems, a prototype self-levelling,
radar mounting platform has already been designed around the pitch-angle
sensing function. The sensors use a floating-core fluxgate magnetometer
and incorporate the company’s patented 3rd axis sensing. The compact,
low-cost sensors components are supplied separately for manufactures or
mounted on a printed circuit board with all control electronics for
systems integrators to incorporate into their own systems. They are
available with various output options – including alarm limit set
points. They can also be supplied with various rates of viscous damping
where vibration and shock loadings may be expected to affect readings.
