Continuous level measurement over a
measuring range of up to 8 meters |
| |

BERTHOLD Technologies: The Tower-Sens is a rod detector based on
the well-known level gauging system LB 490 Uni-Probe. It has been
designed specifically to monitor large measuring ranges. With only one
electronic unit and only one flameproof-housing, the Tower-Sens is
significantly more economical than systems comprising several short,
cascading detectors. Moreover, the wiring efforts and the risk of
complete system failure are drastically reduced. The combination of good
value, reliability, accuracy and low source activity make the Tower-Sens
the ideal solution for measuring ranges exceeding a length of 2 meters.
System highlights: - Constant high measurement accuracy over the entire
measuring range, even under varying temperatures - Virtually
maintenance-free - Reliable for many years - Low source activity due to
the high sensitivity - Minimum radiation protection stipulations .... |

“A clear view on flow” |
| |

Bronkhorst High-Tech proudly presents the BRIGHT Series,
multifunctional Readout and Control units. These new R/C-modules offer
the users of Bronkhorst Mass Flow Meters / Controllers the possibilities
of local indication and operation, flowrate in actual values or
percentage, fluid selection, setpoint, counter and alarms. Further to
these functionalities, the compact and stylish design distinguishes this
comprehensive device from other products on the market. The BRIGHT
models are available for lab-style instruments (see depicted image of an
EL-FLOW® Mass Flow Controller) and for instruments with IP65 housing.
Communication between such an instrument and the BRIGHT module is
established over the RS-232 digital communication port. The modern OLED
display technology results in a bright and wide angle visibility. The
BRIGHT module can be mounted either directly on the instrument, on an
adjacent wall / panel or on the instrument’s pipework. For the latter
options we can offer an additional mounting bracket. ... |

Radiation Interference Discrimination -
Radiometric measurements and weld inspections |
| |

BERTHOLD Technologies: Radiometric level gauges have proved
themselves indispensable, especially in the chemical industry, due to
their universal usage and reliability. The measurement is contact-free
and requires no changes to the vessel. They are therefore widely used,
particularly in difficult processes. Problems can occur however, when
weld or material inspections are performed at the plant site. During
these inspections very strong radioactive sources are employed,
sometimes 10,000 times stronger than the source of the measuring system.
This additional radiation field leads to a strong rise in count rate at
the detector and a seemingly dropping fill level. As a result,
considerable problems in the process can occur - in the worst case,
vessel overflow with severe consequences for plant and personnel safety.
Up to now, detectors were often covered with heavy and expensive lead
shieldings. during weld inspections Weld tests were strongly regulated
and the production was often stopped or severly hampered. ... |

Signal Conditioning Platform (SCP) pmax
Measuring and Monitoring - Module Type 5269 |
| |
Kistler:
For continuous monitoring and measurement of the cylinder peak pressure
pmax in diesel and gasoline engines, the new 2-channel pmax measuring
module, Type 5269, offers an ideal expansion unit for the universal
signal conditioning platform (SCP). The SCP charge amplifier, Type
5064A, supplies the pmax module, Type 5269, with a voltage proportional
to the cylinder pressure. When a defined threshold is reached a warning
or a digital emergency stop signal is generated. At the same time the
amplifier supplies an output voltage that is proportional to the maximum
cylinder pressure of the last cycle. This signal is easily acquired
using the usual analog inputs of the test stand measuring system. The
pmax module is ideally suitable for monitoring and measuring continuous
operation. It can be used to replace high-performance pressure
indication systems in many cases. Signal interference, such as pipe
oscillations, for example, can be suppressed effectively by an efficient
input filter. ... |

Suppression of interference radiation in
radiometric level measurement |
| |

BERTHOLD Technologies: Radiometric level measurements are
particularly reliable and have a characteristically high availability.
The technique permits non-contact level measurement and is therefore
used especially for difficult measuring tasks. Hitherto, however, the
applicability of radiometric measurements was always compromised
whenever testing of materials or welds was being performed on site. A
newly developed technology now permits the influence of interference
radiation on measurement to be drastically reduced. The very high
activity of the radiation sources used for weld testing gene rate such
strong radiation fields that even radiometric measurements perform ed at
distances of up to 1000 m can go haywire. A new technology has been
developed to prevent this from happening. An LB440-RID radiometric level
measurement system incorporating this new technology was subjected to
extensive field testing by BASF radiometry specialists at Ludwigshafen
in collaboration with Berthold Technologies in order to establish its
applicability in practice. ... |

e2v supports Aston Martin’s Driving Home
Road Safety Campaign 2007 |
| |
|
e2v is supporting two Britons who will drive a factory-prepared
Aston Martin V8 Vantage from Tokyo to London on an epic journey along
the newly completed Asia-Pacific Highway, bringing world attention to
road safety awareness and raising money to help save children from death
and injury on the roads. The V8 is set to become the first car ever to
cross the full extent of the new Asia Highway network of roads, arriving
early August in Trafalgar Square, London – and in doing so achieving a
place in the record books. Much of the highway, which was first mooted
50 years ago and was completed last year, consists of improved roadways,
but there are sections in central Asia which will test both the car and
drivers to the full. This 10,000 mile journey will see the car
travelling through: Japan, South Korea, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,
Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria,
Germany, France and the United Kingdom. e2v’s automotive solutions
include: Alarms – microwave sensors: e2v’s microwave alarm sensor is
fitted as standard in every Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Microwave alarm
sensors provide greater and more reliable security protection than
traditional ultrasonic alarms, which can be activated by thunderstorms,
gusts of wind or by contact with the exterior of the car. Intelligent
sensing control - Application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs):
ASICs interpret data collected by vehicle sensors and automatically
activate, for example, windscreen wipers, headlights, seat belt warning. ... |
