Sensing solutions for advanced clutch
control systems |
| |
Over recent years, clutch control has gone electronic, creating a need
for sensors to deliver position, speed and temperature measurements to
advanced control systems. Electricfil Automotive masters all the
leading sensor technologies to provide optimum solutions, opening doors
to a wide range of clutch-related functions that enhance driving
comfort, safety and fuel economy. Today clutches are operated by
electric or hydraulic actuators. These actuators are either controlled
automatically in dual clutch (DCT) and automated manual (AMT)
transmissions or by a clutch pedal in manual transmissions (MT).
Whatever the system, electronic clutch control and driver assistance
functions greatly enhance driving comfort and the service life of clutch
components. For example, starting on even the steepest hill is now easy
for the driver – and easy on the clutch. Safety lock-outs prevent
shifting into wrong gear, starting the engine with the clutch engaged or
downshifting on slippery roads. The parking brake is automatically
released when the clutch is engaged. Other clutch-related functions
include torque limiting, cruise-control switch-off, anti-stall systems,
clutch-riding alarms and clutch position indication. And the list is
growing continuously. ... |

EPN: Pressure transmitter for rugged
applications |
| |
Trafag:
The next generation pressure transmitter ‘EPN’ is a substitute for the
EPT family. It is designed for rugged applications in the marine sector
such as diesel engines. The EPN offers a reliable function under harsh
conditions where strong vibrations and extended temperature conditions
exist. The new model is very compact and thanks to its wide flat of 27mm
is very mounting-friendly. It has improved technical performance and
reliability and is available at a lower price than the old version. The
EPN is also approved by many marine application bodies. Thanks to a
Trafag developed ASIC and a reduced number of electronic components the
EPN’s operation is more reliable and the risk of failure is minimized.
Further are two different accuracies available. The pressure transmitter
is having an EN175301-803 (DIN43650) electrical connector and the IP65
protection is achieved without mounted female connector. Trafag is
internationally recognized as a leading manufacturer of pressure and
temperature measurement devices. ... |

Piezoresistive High-Pressure Sensor RH |
| |
Kistler:
RH-Sensors for High-Pressure and High-Temperature Applications. In
contrast to many other pressure sensors, it is possible to measure hot
media up to 300 °C directly with the RH High-Pressure, High-Temperature
Sensor. The unique construction with a special silicon measuring cell
does not require any interfering or toxic pressure transmission fluid.
An extremely robust sensor diaphragm enables it to be used even under
the most difficult conditions in hydraulic and process applications. The
RH-sensors high sensitivity of 100 … 300 mV with 2 mA supply, its
excellent stability, high accuracy and a very high natural frequency
provide additional advantages, enabling both static and dynamic
pressures to be measured. The sensors are available as absolute pressure
types with a Wheatstone bridge output for pressure ranges of between 0 …
100 to 3 000 bar. The sensor can be supplied for more stringent
requirements with a set of coefficients for digital sensor compensation.
When combined with the external amplifier Type 4618A…, the sensor output
signal is converted to a common industrial signal of 0 … 10 V or 4 … 20
mA. The integral calibration function makes it extremely simple to
exchange and adjust the sensor as required. ... |

Foil Sensor MetaPot Series 2007 – new,
optimized type series |
| |
|
Metallux AG has extended the MetaPot foil sensor family towards a
new optimized and customized type series –series 2007. Nowadays
different foil sizes and systems can be combined to advanced measurement
systems, resulting in customized applications of different relative
strengths. Based on foil technology Metallux developed new electric
features, never achieved before. Generating of a “basic sensor” a
complex component with many integrated functions. Galvanic separated and
redundand systems in only one sensor, customized characteristic outputs
additional switching contacts respectively centre detection on the
sensor are e. G. possible. Application of printed resistors.
Linearization on printed circuit board ist possible up to 0,25%. MetaPot
foil sensor consists exclusively of UL-listed material. On request an
amplifier can assembled on the connector flex . For electric contacts
twistsafe and lockable plugs are in the delivery programme. Furthermore
the already small hight is now reduced to < 0,6mm. Changing Metallux
standard IP 65 to IP 66 is possible regarding the sealing of the
electrical conncetion. This makes this sensor ideal for critical, humid
and warm environment. ... |

VTI's inclination sensors for
particularly tough environments |
| |
The
automotive industry has traditionally been the leading utilizer of
sensor technology. Especially low-g sensors are used to detect small
movements and "skid" of the car as part of the electronic stability
systems (ESC). The requirements on the sensor are extremely though. The
sensor must tolerate shocks, vibration and dirt while delivering full
performance in a temperature range of -40 - +125°C over a minimum life
time of 15-20 years. Most applications outside of the automotive
industry appreciate the reliability of automotive grade sensors. By
using high-accuracy instrumentation-grade calibration and temperature
compensation, premium performance grade sensors can be achieved using
the automotive grade sensors as "building blocks". VTI Technologies
is the leading supplier of low-g accelerometers for the automotive
market. VTI delivers volumes of more than 25 million sensor elements
yearly. VTI's T-series inclination sensors have been designed ... |

Software Library for spectral analysis
and control engineering assignments |
| |
MAZeT
GmbH presented for the first time its software library for spectral
analysis and control engineering assignments, at the "SENSOR+TEST 2007"
trade fair. JENCOLOR - CBM Library for True Color Software Development.
From the 22nd to the 24th of May 2007, at stand 328 in Hall 7 in
Nuremberg, MAZeT showed for the first time a modular development system,
including a software library for spectral analysis and control
engineering assignments. The library contains linked routines for sensor
steering, interfaces, sensor signal evaluation, algorithms for
calibration and spectral calculation, and complete use-specific tools.
The library will be delivered by MAZeT, optionally supplemented by the
evaluation boards, and can be directly integrated into the customer’s
own test software and the series software. To that end, based on a
verified algorithm, the routines will be ported as the core of the
software with the sensor and color algorithms for various target
systems, according to the chosen hardware. The test system and the
series applications are therefore as identical as possible. The
advantage for the customer is clear: The customer can concentrate on his
application, without spending time on the development and verification
of the sensor and color software, and can get his products to market
faster.. ... |
