Sensortechnics' New OxyProof Pressure
Transmitters Ensure Safe Performance in Oxygen Applications |
| |
Sensortechnics'
OxyProof series is a new family of Industrial Pressure Transmitters for
oxygen applications. These sensors feature special materials,
manufacturing processes and cleaning procedures to enable safe pressure
measurements of pure oxygen gas. They are certified by the German
Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) for safe use
in gaseous oxygen service. The OxyProof series allows for absolute or
gage pressure measurements of oxygen up to 600 bar at sensor operating
temperatures up to 60 °C. The fully media isolated transmitters are
based either on all welded stainless steel sensor cells or proven
ceramic technology. They are temperature compensated and offer a variety
of voltage or current output signals. Sensortechnics can easily
customise these products to offer individual pressure calibrations as
well as all industry-standard pressure connections and electrical
terminations. All OxyProof transmitters are EMC compliant and CE-marked. ... |

MLX90333 – A New Dimension in Contactless
Sensing |
| |
After
the introduction of the MLX90316 in 2005 for Rotary Position Sensor
applications, Melexis launches a new Triaxis Product targeted to
3D Position Sensor applications. Through the MLX90333, the patented
Triaxis technology shows its full potential: the MLX90333 is sensitive
to the 3 components of the flux density applied to the IC (BX, BY and BZ).
This allows the MLX90333 to sense any magnet moving in its surrounding
and it enables the design of a novel generation of non-contacting
joystick position sensors which are often required for both automotive
and industrial applications (e.g. man-machine interface). Furthermore,
the capability of measuring BX, BY and BZ allows the MLX90333 to be
considered as a universal non-contacting position sensor i.e. not
limited to joystick applications. For instance, a linear travel can be
sensed with the MLX90333 once included in a specific magnetic design.
Two angles are computed from the three vector components of the flux
density and are reported as linear output signals. ... |

New Digital SPI Bus Pressure Sensors from
Sensortechnics Offer Precision Measurements |
| |
Sensortechnics'
new digital RCE series offers precision absolute, gage or differential
pressure measurement from ±10 mbar to 5 bar. These devices generate a
calibrated and temperature compensated digital output signal with high
resolution and very fast response times. The sensors comply with the SPI
bus protocol and can be easily interfaced to microcontrollers without
the need for additional electronic components. Custom specific outputs,
I2C bus, analog or switching outputs can also be provided on request.
The RCE series utilises the latest ASIC technologies for high precision
digital signal conditioning and achieve high total accuracies of up to
±1.0 %FSS (Full Scale Span). The sensors feature highly stable
micromachined silicon elements packaged with two pressure ports for easy
manifold or tubing connection and mounting holes for convenient
PCB-assembly. ... |

Integrated infrared thermometer delivers
medical accuracy over a wide operating range |
| |
One
of the most prominent applications of Infra Red thermometers has been
the fever measurement of humans. There are two main types of IR fever
thermometers: the ear thermometers and forehead thermometers. For these
medical applications, a measurement accuracy of ±0.1C is needed. Often
such accuracy can only be achieved in small operating temperature ranges
and under precisely controlled laboratory conditions. Last year
Melexis introduced the MLX90614 family of digital integrated
temperature sensors. This small and cost effective non-contact
thermometer delivers a fully calibrated, digital infrared temperature
reading. An infrared sensor and a custom signal conditioning chip are
integrated in one TO-can package. Recently, Melexis enlarged the
MLX90614 family with the MLX90614DAA. This 3 Volt device delivers the
±0.1C measurement accuracy in the object temperature range of 36C -
39C and the wide ambient temperature range 20C - 30C. The sleep mode
option with a sleep current in the order of µA make this device highly
suited for battery operated applications. ... |

Outstanding results at SENSOR+TEST 2007 |
| |

Attractive three-day programme draws to a close in Nürnberg. Exhibitors,
visitors and experts from the AMA Association for Sensor Technology are
agreed: SENSOR+TEST 2007 was a complete success. The extremely
good general economic development in Germany and Europe also has a
positive effect on sensor, measuring and testing technology. The mood at
the most important exhibition for this industry in Europe was
accordingly good. SENSOR+TEST 2007 produced excellent results over the
past three days from 22-24 May. The exhibitors welcomed about 8,600
visitors to their stands, which is 15 % more than the previous year. ... |
