Crude Oil measurement in Russia |
| |
|
UFM 3030 in the loading area. In the Kaliningrad area of Russia, more
and more oil fields are developed. Due to the large distances in between
and the relatively small supplies of oil per field it is not always
appropriate to build a pipeline in order to get the oil to the
refineries. The transport is therefore done by trucks with 20 m3 tanks. |
|
|
In the past, there was a float level measurement. But from time to time
the tanks were overfilled which damaged the environment. In order to
avoid overfilling, the customer was offered the three beam ultrasonic
flowmeter UFM 3030 for measurement of the crude oil volume and filling
of the truck tanks. Finally, KROHNE delivered DN50, DN65 and
DN80. The customer was satisfied with accuracy and repeatability which
allowed solving the problems of this application. ... |

Pullswitch - Conveyor Safety Stop Switch |
| |
 |
Taut wire Pullswitch provides “failsafe” emergency stop protection along
the length of the conveyor. Compact double-ended design with five
changeover relay contacts, allows shutdown of the conveyor if the cable
is pulled or if the cable becomes slack. Internal snap-action trip
inhibits conveyor re-start until the tripped Pullswitch is manually
reset. |
|
|
High visibility flag indication and “cats eye” lens provides quick and
simple location of the tripped Pullswitch under all conditions. Totally
weatherproof, IP65 dust and watertight rated, polycarbonate and
stainless steel construction. ... |

OPTIFLUX installed in milk
standardisation application |
| |
|
KROHNE’s OPTIFLUX is being used to standardise milk to the required fat
concentration. GEA Westfalia Food Tec, a global leader in the design and
manufacture of separation systems, has chosen to use KROHNE’s
OPTIFLUX 6000 electromagnetic flowmeters in its STANDOMAT® automatic
milk standardising unit. Milk standardisation ensures that different
milk products - such as full fat, skimmed and semi-skimmed - have the
right level of fat concentration. |
|
|
The OPTIFLUX installed in the STANDOMAT® is used to make sure that the
milk is standardised to the required fat concentration to an accuracy of
+/- 0.025 per cent. The STANDOMAT® system uses a centrifuge to separate
the raw milk into standardised milk and cream, which are drawn off. The
OPTIFLUX is installed on the inlet feed to the centrifuge and measures
the flow of raw milk into the separator. A signal is taken from the
instrument and used to control a pump which regulates the flow of raw
milk into the separator. The fat content of the milk exiting the
centrifuge is measured using a density meter. ... |

LEM introduces high-performance
split-core current transformers for energy-efficiency and active power
monitoring |
| |
 |
LEM has introduced the TT series of compact split-core AC current
transformers. These new devices feature an innovative type of core
material, enabling this technology to be the first to offer high
performance coupled with an attractive price. |
|
|
The core material used in the transformers is a new type of ferrite with
improved magnetic permeability, allowing the accurate measurement of AC
signals in a extended frequency range that includes 50/60Hz. The new
transformers feature an absolute accuracy better than 1 percent at the
nominal current and even better for lower primary currents. The ferrite
material provides an excellent linearity of better than 0.1 percent even
at very low levels, and the transformers have a particularly low phase
shift between measured voltage and current of 1.5˚ ±1˚. The hard and
dense core allows very small air gaps to be achieved and is virtually
insensitive to ageing and temperature changes, in contrast to laminated
FeSi or FeNi materials. ... |
