LEM introduces the First Wireless
Electrical Sub-Metering Components |
| |
 |
LEM launches the Wi-LEM (Wireless Local Energy Meter) family of
components, an innovative solution that allows electricity consumption
to be monitored and reduced. By using wireless communication, Wi-LEM
greatly reduces the time, cost and disruption involved in deploying a
sub-metering installation, increasing both the potential financial
savings and removing many of the barriers to adopt this proven approach
to reduce energy consumption. |
|
|
The Wi-LEM family consists of: Energy Meter Nodes - an assembly of 1 to
3 current transducers with its signal processing module. They can be
deployed to measure energy consumption at any point in the power cabinet
and transmit the data. - Mesh Nodes - a repeater linking various Nodes.
They enable wireless communications throughout a large installation -
Mesh Gate - a gateway managing the mesh network. It provides data
through serial interface to a PC - By measuring active, reactive and
apparent energy plus maximum current and minimum voltage, Energy Meter
Nodes provide much more information than a simple sub-meter. ... |

Melexis and Atmel Collaborate on
Contactless Readers and NFC Solutions |
| |
Melexis Microelectronic Integrated Systems N.V. (Euronext
Brussels: MELE) and Atmel® Corporation (NASDAQ: ATML) announced today
their collaboration to propose innovative solutions for 13.56 MHz RFID
readers and Near Field Communication (NFC) devices. They will target
applications such as passport and ID verification, contactless payment,
transaction and peer-to-peer information exchange. Melexis and Atmel are
demonstrating at Cartes in Paris (Atmel booth 4J013 Hall 4), a passport
reader and a NFC application based on a two-chip solution. The demos
feature the powerful Atmel AT90USB AVR® microcontroller and the Melexis
MLX90131 RFID/NFC transceiver. The Atmel AT90USB is an AVR RISC
microcontroller featuring 16 MIPS at 16 MHz, full–speed USB, 64 KB of
Flash and low power consumption. Thanks to its CPU power and its large
on-board Flash memory, it is well suited for contactless applications.
The new MLX90131 is the next generation of Melexis' popular MLX90121
13.56 MHz RFID transceiver IC. Both handle ASK, FSK and PSK sub carrier
demodulation. ... |

Moven - inertial motion capturing |
| |
|
Xsens` Moven is a complete, easy to use, cost efficient system
for full-body human motion capturing. It is based on our proven inertial
sensor technology and wireless communication solutions. Moven provides
the full 6 degrees of freedom (6DOF) body motion of a human in
real-time. The unique advantage of Moven's unique inertial technology is
that no external cameras, emitters or markers are needed. The user can
even choose to wear his of her own clothing over the Moven Suit, no
connection or line-of-sight is needed to the external world other than
the wireless data link. ... |

New Spindle Error Analyzer Makes
Measurement Easier, More Robust and Multilingual |
| |
The Lion Precision Spindle Error Analyzer, an industry standard
for nearly ten years, has been updated with added capability and
automated configuration. Previous versions required the manual entry of
sensor serial numbers, calibration details and the like. The new SEA
Version 8 has automated the process. Using TEDS (Transducer Electronic
Data Sheet) technology, the software acquires all of this information
automatically when connected to the new Elite Series capacitive sensors.
In addition to being easier, the opportunity for operator error is
greatly reduced. When the new software is used with older capacitive
sensors which do not support TEDS, calibration details are provided in
text files which can be loaded into the system. The calibration is then
acquired from the text files instead of directly from the electronics.
Shift vs. RPM is a new test added in Version 8. This test acquires data
in five axes plus tilt measurements over a range of spindle speeds. The
results are presented in a chart showing shift in spindle position in
all axes as a function of spindle RPM. Most existing tests have also
added expanded features. . ... |

Remote Radio-Frequency Level Indicator |
| |
 |
Remote Auto-Set. Remote Radio-Frequency Level Indicator. ATEX certified
for zone 20, 21 and 22. The Remote Auto-Set is a radio-frequency level
indicator that allows single point level detection of most liquids and
bulk granular materials such as powders, grain, sugar, cement etc… |
|
|
The remote version allows the programming and monitoring to be achieved
at a distance of up to 100 metres between the control module and the
transponder. The Remote version is recommended for situations where: -
the level probe is not easily accessible - regular recalibration is
necessary i.e. for various products used in feeders etc - the level
indicator is exposed to vibration and possible impact - the product is
at temperatures up to 250ºC. The control module ATSR1V0A has a display
and is simply programmed using push-buttons and switches. Like the
standard version, it has a power shield function that enables it to
automatically compensate for material build-up on the probe. ... |
