cegard/3D at INTERLIFT |
| |
 |
One of the main attractions of CEDES at the INTERLIFT 2005 was
the 3D monitoring system cegard/3D. This true 3D system combines and
utilizes the advantages of two independent sensor systems. cegard/3D is
perfect for applications where, alongside the two dimensional elevator
door monitoring, additionally the area in front of the doors also has to
be monitored (vestibule monitoring). |
|
|
In contrast to conventional 3D light curtains, the 3D area does not
change during the door closing process. And another advantage: cegard/3D
functions with all the door monitoring systems already installed,
independent of whether they are fitted dynamically or statically,
whether they are through-beam sensors, light curtains or even mechanical
safety edges! .... |

VTI sensors measure engine vibration in Jaguar |
| |
An accelerometer by VTI Technologies Oy, Finland,
has been selected for the new Active Engine Mount system developed by
Avon Automotive. Avon's Vibramount* systems with VTI sensors are
delivered to the British sports and luxury car manufacturer Jaguar.
According to Jaguar, the Vibramount* system enables them to eliminate as
much as 90% of engine vibration in the diesel models of Jaguar XJ
series, launched in 2005. "The cooperation with Avon Automotive is a
significant new opening for VTI. We are the market leader in supplying
small-scale accelerometers for ESP systems and electric suspension
systems. This application is a new breakthrough for us and proves the
suitability of our technology and products also for low-frequency
vibration measurement", says Hannu Laatikainen, Vice President, Sales
and Marketing, VTI Technologies Oy... |

Surface
mounted Proximity Sensor |
| |
 |
This Proximity Sensor of Gentech is a reed-based sensor activated by the presence
of a magnetic field and designed for SMD mounting. These moulded sensors
are ideal for use in laptop covers, security system sensors, electric
gas metering, fluid flow sensors and level sensors. |
|
|
The reed switch at the heart of the CT10 Series is a single-pole,
single-throw (SPST) type having normally open contacts and containing
two reeds which can be magnetically actuated by an electromagnet,
permanent magnet or combination of both. The switch features low and
extremely stable contact resistance (115 milliohms) as well as long
operational life - even at power ratings as high as 10Watts. The long
life is attributed to an exceptionally rugged ruthenium contact layer
that ensures lifetimes up to 1 billion operations ... |

New high
durability sensor is reliable in shock environments |
| |
 |
Penny + Giles, designer and manufacturer of high precision
sensing technology, has launched a new rotary position sensor. SRH280
uses proven, non-contact Hall effect technology to provide OEMs with
reliable and accurate rotary measurement in extreme industrial
environments. |
|
|
Unlike potentiometer sensors, the SRH280 can operate in high dither
vibration conditions with no deterioration of the sensing element due to
the non-contacting operating principle. It is therefore an attractive
alternative for applications such as position monitoring of valve,
steering and throttle positions on industrial machinery and vehicles.
The sensor provides an electrical output over the full 360° range and is
available with a 10bit microprocessor ... |

Up to 400 bar and 400 degrees |
| |
 |
Following a redesign, KROHNE now offers its BW 25 level gauge
with a number of additional features. For instance, the support system
for the gauge's float, which works in accordance with the Archimedes
principle, is completely new. The BW 25 is primarily used in chemical,
petrochemical, oil, gas, and offshore applications. |
|
|
The standard version can easily handle pressures up to 400 bar at
temperatures of up to 400° C; however, higher pressures and temperatures
are also possible.
The redesigned version of the level gauge is now entirely suitable for
use in hazardous locations. In addition to the M9 indicator with a
pointer there is also an optional M10 digital indicator available, for
which a flameproof version of the optional stainless steel housing may
also be ordered ... |

Gap Sensor Wands for Slot Die Coaters |
| |
 |
Capacitec
introduces two breakthrough improvements to their Slot Die Coater Gap
Sensor System used by leading global manufacturers of labels, tapes and
films. The system achieves coater gap uniformity better than 0.25
microns across the full length of the coater die. |
|
|
The new thinner non-contact sensor wands will allow coaters to access
die slots down to 100 microns at temperatures up to 250ºC . The dual
sensor wand also compensates for an off-centered wand position in the
gap. The capacitive gap measurement solution includes sensor wands,
special wand holders, and signal conditioning electronics and
software... |

wenglor Achieves Unbeatably Good Values |
| |
 |
wenglor’s well known analogue diffuse laser light sensors for
measuring tasks have now been equipped new inner workings. Three sensors
with different working ranges open up additional applications for the
customer. Changes in distance between the sensor and the object can be
detected over the entire measuring range accurate down to 8 µm. |
|
|
Whether high precision positioning, or the measurement of thickness,
height or distance is involved – this ingenuous measuring marvel is
practically unlimited. Thanks to a CMOS line array with a significantly
greater number of pixels and newly developed circuitry and software with
5 times the DSP processing power, technicians at wenglor have succeeded
in improving resolution to 8 μm, and increasing cut-off frequency to 750
Hz. Measuring accuracy and linearity have also been further improved,
resulting in extremely good characteristics which have now been achieved
for the first time with devices in this class. The sensor can be easily
operated via an RS 232 interface ... |
