KROHNE helps control trade
effluent costs |
| |
 |
OPTIFLUX 4300 A world-leading ingredients manufacturer has installed
KROHNE’s electromagnetic flowmeters to measure more precisely the
volume of effluent discharged from its plant so it can control water
utility costs more accurately. Companies can lose tens of thousands of
pounds a year through inaccurate measurement of trade effluent which is
pumped into sewers and charged for by utility companies. |
|
|
The ingredients manufacturer’s production plant operates 24 hours per
day, 365 days per year. The effluent discharged by the plant can average
33,000 cubic metres per month. Previously the company used ultrasonic
level in conjunction with a classic flume to measure effluent discharge.
However, these devices do not give a direct measure of flow and can
result in a +/- 3 – 5 per cent error in reading – equating to a
difference of 1,500 cubic metres per month.... |

Successful Breakthrough of
Precision Temperature IC |
| |
 |
Announcement of the TSic™ product family. Realising high-precision, fast
and low-cost temperature measurement with TSic™. IST AG
Switzerland, a leading company in the field of specific thin film
temperature, flow and humidity sensors, achieved a breakthrough of
precision temperature IC in collaboration with a semiconductor producer. |
|
|
With the introduction of the TSic product family are chip integrated
temperature sensors available with an accuracy of ±0.5°C, ±0.3°C, ±0.1°C
and ±0.05°C. Comparing the competitive low-cost semiconductor sensors
the accuracy limits are pushed forward by a factor five. All products
are available in SOP-8 (SOIC-8) and in e-line (similar to TO-92, but
smaller) package. Bare Chips are available on request. Chip size
(1.6x1.5 mm) offers the smallest sensor design for calibrated chips in
COB/COF/CSP assembly... |

RGB
Color Sensing For Automation
Applications |
| |
 |
Verify the presence of targets that can be differentiated by color,
faster and with greater control. The EMX ColorMax-1000™ color
sensor lets your machine see up to 15 colors and RGB intensity. What's
more, innovative technology improves sensitivity and speed, so you can
maximize the pace of manufacturing. |
|
|
Recognizes 15 colors. Use fewer sensors. No need to reprogram when you
change setups. Traditional color sensors output only a "match/no match"
condition, but the ColorMax™-1000 also outputs the analog values for
each RGB reading. Now machines and operators can see not just which
color, but how much color - enabling tighter control... |

Precon Announces National
Instruments LabVIEW Driver for Humidity Sensor |
| |
|
MEMPHIS, Tennessee (September 19, 2005) – Precon, a leading
manufacturer of precision sensors, probes, and integrated electronics
for over 35 years, announces the release of a LabVIEW Plug and Play
instrument driver for the Precon HS-2000D Humidity Sensor, certified by
National Instruments for use with the NI LabVIEW graphical development
environment. The new driver allows LabVIEW users to quickly and easily
integrate the HS-2000D humidity and temperature sensor into their test,
measurement and control applications. |
|
|
The dime-size HS-2000D relative humidity and temperature sensor
communicates over an RS 232 link via a four-pin connection with no
external power required. The sensor, which is temperature compensated
and factory calibrated, is accurate to +/- 2%, exhibits unmatched
chemical resistance, excellent stability from -30 to +100 C, and fast
response time. The HS-2000D, priced at under $30, is ideally suited for
many test and measurement applications.... |

New Humidity and Temperature
Transmitter from Vaisala |
| |
 |
Vaisala introduces the new Vaisala HUMICAP® Humidity and
Temperature Transmitter Series HMT100, developed for humidity and
temperature monitoring in demanding HVAC applications. As new features,
the HMT100 has two-wire loop powered or three-wire voltage output
configurations, an interchangeable probe, and an optional display. |
|
|
Vaisala HUMICAP® products have been the market leaders in industrial and
meteorological humidity measurements for over a decade. The new HMT100
series allows for four different configurations: to show relative
humidity only, dewpoint only, or relative humidity and temperature, or
dewpoint and temperature. The transmitter is available with one or two
analog output channels depending on the selected parameters... |

Volumetric filling: First
electromagnetic flowmeter with bus connection |
| |
 |
With BATCHCONTROL, KROHNE is exhibiting at drinktec the first
electromagnetic flowmeter that can be controlled via a CANopen bus
interface and a batch computer. This allows the user to simultaneously
operate up to 120 flowmeters for the volumetric filling and dosing of
electrically conductive liquids and pastes with a single machine. |
|
|
BATCHCONTROL features an optimum hygienic design, the core of which is a
highly stable ceramic measuring tube. The integrated temperature
measurement – unique in the market – makes it possible to verify CIP/SIP
cleaning. The temperature detected by the sensor is directly transmitted
to the control system ... |

GAPMAN CONTACT SABER : Electronic
feeler gauge |
| |
 |
The efficient functioning of an aircraft engine has a direct correlation
with controlling the amount of air that passes by the outer fan blades
onto the first stage compressor. Capacitec has recently introduced a gap
sensor system that measures fan blade tip to engine cowling gaps helping
jet engine manufacturers as well as jet engine rebuilders perform a
series of inspections to more accurately set this flow of air. |
|
|
A critical adjustment to this airflow is the setting up of the ideal
amount of air gap between the end of the fan blades (intake guide vanes)
and the abrasive liner (rub coat) around the circumference of the engine
cowling. Too much gap would cause intake turbulence, too little could
cause the blades to hit the inside of the shroud. In the past, engine
manufacturers and rebuilders relied on mechanical methods such as step,
taper or feeler gauges to make these important measurements. They were
not satisfied with the results due to poor accuracy, long measurement
time and non-repeatability between operators. ... |
