| Rotating Torque Measuring
Flanges from Manner now with 24 Bit Resolution |
| |
Manner
Sensortelemetrie developed an extreme highly
resolving
torque measuring flange with 24 bit resolution
especial for friction power measuring. This tool is
enormous beneficial at this time when the friction power
losses in the automotive field are in the focus . Such a
measurement equipment is indispensable at the adding of
efficiency optimizing potential in a per mill range. The
torque values are already recorded in the measuring
flange with a high-precision measuring amplifier. They
are digitized in the rotor with 24 bit and subsequently
transferred to the measuring computer without any
further loss of accuracy. The digitized measuring values
can be transferred to the computer by CAN or Ethernet. A
reconversion into an analogue value does not make sense
due to the high exactness. Additional the temperature of
the testing object can be online recorded to correct the
zeropoint and gain changes at the measuring computer
that are conditioned by the environmental temperature
changes. The friction moments can be high-precision
measured without changing the measuring flange in spite
of operating load resistance. This saves testing period
and costs. The measuring flange can be used for the test
facility field as well as for the vehicle field. The
wide operating distance between rotor and stator and the
robust digital transmission method of sensor telemetry
has proved in practice. ... |

| Record Year for UK Load
Cell Manufacturer LCM Systems Ltd |
| |
| Isle of Wight based,
load cell manufacturer LCM Systems Ltd
has announced an increase in output, bucking the trend
as recent figures announce a slowdown in output from the
manufacturing sector. The company finished its 2011
financial year 15% up on 2010 figures. Managing
Director, Steve Sargeant says the company’s key to
success is being able to convert orders that need a
quick turnaround, while managing customer expectations.
“With budgets tight, many companies are waiting until
the last minute to order their load cells, so they can
hold on to their cash for longer. This means we are
often presented with very short deadlines. Handling the
manufacturing here in the UK enables us to keep a close
track on all throughput, at the same time being able to
monitor and ensure the best possible quality of build
and performance. Managing customer expectation is also
important as although our load cells can be a small part
of a larger system, they are often ‘mission critical’.
This means that misleading customers on delivery dates
can cause them serious problems.” Steve says that
although enquiry levels have been even more
unpredictable than in the past, there has been a general
increase, especially for custom, specialist products.
“We have also taken an aggressive marketing approach to
ensure that the message gets out to anyone looking for
load cells and complementary instrumentation.” he
explains. ... |

Install photoelectric sensors more efficiently |
| |
With
the "omni-mount" from Leuze electronic,
photoelectric sensors can be mounted and adjusted
quicker and more easily. In addition to the tried and
tested M18 hole mounting performed by Universal
photoelectric sensors, Leuze electronic has now combined
this mounting process with simple alignment with the new
318B series including the so-called "omni-mount" process
at no additional cost. The omni-mount alignment with the
option of easy fine adjustment is based on the reversed
use of mounting nuts. Their special form enables
form-locking sensor fastening at various alignment
angles (±8° in every direction) together with the spacer
disc included in delivery. Obstruction-free embedded
mounting e.g. lateral to a transport system very close
to the transport material is also possible. ... |

Epson Toyocom Develops New Absolute Pressure Sensor |
| |
Epson
Toyocom Corporation, the leader in crystal
devices, announced it has developed an extremely small
absolute pressure sensor that provides excellent
accuracy and resolution. Epson Toyocom develops and
sells high-performance
quartz pressure sensors for a variety of
applications. The company’s sensors are used in, for
example, manufacturing equipment where highly accurate
pressure measurements are needed, and in measuring
instruments that calculate the water level of rivers or
the water level behind dams based on water pressure.
Epson Toyocom has steadily miniaturized its quartz
pressure sensors to the point where they are compact
enough for use in mobile devices – and has done so
without sacrificing accuracy or resolution. The
XP-6000CA employs an innovative new QMEMS(*1)
pressure-sensing structure that allows the sensor to
squeeze into a tiny 7.0 × 5.0 × 2.0t mm package yet
still provides excellent total pressure accuracy (30
Pa) and high resolution (0.3 Pa). In addition to
offering high accuracy and high resolution, the
XP-6000CA sensor provides stable output even under
varying external temperatures and environmental
conditions because the sensor element is made of highly
stable quartz crystal. The new sensor’s pressure
measurements are resistant to the effects of noise
because it uses frequency counting, a principle based on
crystal measurement technology, to measure pressure.... |
