Play it Safe with Kistler for Semi-automatic Assembly Stations |
| |
The
new safety module SPLe Type 2154… makes it easier for users of
Kistler's electromechanical NC joining systems to achieve the
highest of four categories on semi-automatic assembly stations. This
ensures performance level (PL) e as defined in the new EN ISO 13849–1
Safety of machinery – Safety-related parts of control systems. Operators
of workstations with manual loading or unloading are ensured maximum
protection with the safety module meeting the latest safety
requirements. The SPLe is ideal for use of NC joining systems in
semi-automatic stations and manual workstations with hand loading, whose
safety requirements are particularly stringent. At speeds of more than
10 mm/s that are not reliably reduced, these stations require
achievement of a performance level of e. EN ISO 13849-1 states that
equipment with this performance level ... |

New: The first 2 Nm Torque Flange with
overload protection |
| |
MAGTROL,
specialist in
torque sensors, presents a new torque flange, the "TF 205". Its
measurement range of 2 Nm extends the range of TF flange torque sensor
from 2 Nm to 200,000 Nm. Based on the strain gauges technology, the
signal transmission is performed through telemetry. The new TF has an
accuracy of 0.1%, an overload protection up 500% of rated torque. His
flat (41mm x Ø ext.75mm) and rigid design allows the construction of
compact measurement assembly without bearings providing an easy
implementation. The TF 205 is suitable for motor or engine test beds,
especially in the automotive area. Due to its overload protection, it
allows accurate measurement on a reduced scale, while providing high
starting torque due to rotational masses. An extension of the range to 5
Nm and 10 Nm sensor is coming soon. ... |

Miniature Teardrop High Temperature Accelerometer, Model 3310A |
| |
Dytran
Instruments, Inc. has introduced a new high-temperature sensor,
model 3310A, which is a low-profile, charge mode
accelerometer that was
designed for use in Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) and mechanical
shock testing applications where size and temperature range are
critical. Model 3310A weighs just 1.8 grams and has an upper temperature
range of +500°F (+260°C), making it unique in both size and operating
temperature. The 3310A utilizes a Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) sensing
element, which ensures greater temperature stability over a wider
temperature range. Designed in a lightweight titanium packaging, model
3310A also features a miniature teardrop design, base isolation and
hermetic sealing for reliable operation in high-humidity environments. ... |

IMI Sensors Announces ATEX Approval of Series 686B Smart Vibration
Switch for Use in Hazardous Areas |
| |
IMI
Sensors, a division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., today
announced ATEX approval of the company’s Series 686B USB Programmable
Smart Vibration Switch, designed for 24/7 continuous protection of
cooling towers, fin fans, pumps, HVAC systems, and other critical
machinery operated in hazardous areas. Meeting ATEX and CSA approval
requirements for use in hazardous environments, the Series 686B is
hermetically sealed and mounts with a single stud like a sensor. This
Smart Vibration Switch includes an embedded
piezoelectric accelerometer
for accurate measurement, monitors vibration velocity for more
consistent results, and provides the reliability not found in mechanical
switches. Series 686B also offers a remote reset capability and USB
programmable threshold and time delays to avoid false trips. The Series
686B is highly versatile, fully user programmable via USB, low cost, and
a drop-in replacement for most popular mechanical vibration switches,
since it only requires two wires and can replace legacy switches without
the need for additional cable runs. In addition to being a more reliable
device than mechanical vibration switches, the Series 686B is also a
significantly lower cost alternative for many electronic vibration
switch applications requiring single relay operation. ... |

Sensonor Technologies present paper on a
Gyroscope with North Seeking Capability at Symposium Gyro Technology,
September 21, 2010 |
| |
|
Sensonor Technologies AS is developing, SAR500, a novel
high-precision, low-noise, high-stability, calibrated and compensated
digital oscillatory gyroscope with SPI interface housed in a rigid
custom-made ceramic package. The SAR500 contains a Butterfly™ MEMS die
and an analog ASIC, housed in a rigid custom-made ceramic package. An
FPGA or a digital ASIC contains the needed control and functional
algorithms to achieve the superior performance. The device is
factory-calibrated and compensated for temperature effects to provide
high-accuracy digital output over a broad temperature range. A perfect
tuning of the excitation and detection frequencies, as well as perfect
mechanical and electrical balancing of the dual masses result in very
low sensitivity to shock and vibrations. The sensing element consists of
a system of two identical masses suspended by means of asymmetric
springs to pedestals designed to minimize the mechanical and thermal
stress. Closed feed-back loops are used to control both the excitation
and detection modes. ... |

Micro-Epsilon Systems Technology Division
expands |
| |
The
System Technology division of Micro-Epsilon has now moved into
larger premises on June 15, 2010. With a floor area of 1,300m2, this
provides the System Technology division with sufficient space for six
large offices and a good-sized assembly area. Due to outstanding growth
and development, the department reached full capacity in its previous
premises. The building, designated as Werk II, is located in the centre
of Ortenburg. There are currently twelve employees in the Systems
Division at Ortenburg who are involved in planning, project planning,
installation and sales. Micro-Epsilon’s System Technology concentrates

Multi Fluid Multi Range gives flexibility and cost reduction |
| |
Digital
Mass Flow Meters and Controllers for gases of Bronkhorst
High-Tech’s Select series offer greater flexibility for user
selection of both flow ranges and gas types. As a result of their ‘Multi
Fluid Multi Range’ feature in combination with a high rangeability (up
to 187.5:1), equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are able to drastically
reduce the variety of spare instruments they keep on stock and thus
reduce the cost of ownership. Users of MFCs in pilot plants or
laboratories can rescale their instruments on site, saving time and
money for dismounting and recalibration. For the convenience of the
user, Bronkhorst High-Tech has developed a free software tool called
FlowTune. By hooking up the instrument to the RS232 port of a lap-top
and running this freeware configuration tool, the selection of different
flow ranges is as simple as 1, 2, 3. The instruments, covering flow
ranges from 0…1 mln/min up to 0…1670 ln/min, are available in two
configurations. ... |

Final Report SENSOR+TEST 2010 |
| |
The
SENSOR+TEST has again borne out its reputation as a business
indicator for the sensor and measuring industries. The figures of the
exhibitor and visitor polls for this year reflect not only the
widespread satisfaction with the trade fair and its offering, but also
the significantly improved economic expectations held by the
participants. The exhibiting enterprises were especially satisfied with
the increased number of visitors compared to last year and with the high
quality of the inquiries. The visitor poll taken by a neutral market
research institute during the course of the fair confirms the
interesting structure and high professionalism of the visitors clearly
as an advantage of the SENSOR+TEST. “The positive development in visitor
figures, lets us look to the future of the SENSOR+TEST and the entire
industry with new confidence,” says Holger Bödeker, Managing Director of
AMA Service, the organiser, about the results of the visitor poll. ... |
