Sierra Introduces New Cryogenic Version
of Their Innova-Mass Vortex Flow Meter |
| |
Sierra
Instruments, Inc.: In an effort to provide an advanced and more
reliable measurement system to the liquefied gas measurement market,
Sierra Instruments has introduced a new cryogenic version of their
Innova-Mass® multivariable
mass vortex flow meter. This application has been historically
serviced by the turbine flow meter, however given that the multivariable
mass vortex meter has no moving parts to wear out or be serviced, the
benefit of the instrument is a more reliable, stable reading and an
increased service life. The new Innova-Mass cryogenic version has
undergone extensive testing and field validation over the last several
years proving that the meter is preferred versus traditional turbine
meters for measuring mass flow rates of cryogenic fluids down to -328°F
(-200°C). Using a special cryogenic temperature RTD, mass calculations
are done with the latest density equations of state for liquid Oxygen,
Nitrogen, Argon, and CO2. The Innova-Mass Model 240 and Model 241
measure five process variables (mass flow, volumetric flow, temperature,
pressure and density) through one process connection. ... |

Platform load cell with integrated
overload stop meets high degree of protection |
| |
HBM:
For hygienic reasons, plants such as those for filling of drinks need to
be cleaned daily with special cleaning agents and water or steam. If
electric components are used there, they must meet the high degree of
protection IP68 or even IP69K. HBM is now introducing their
platform
load cell PW25 to the market specifically for such applications. The new
platform load cell, which will initially be available with a maximum
capacity of 20 kg, is designed to be hermetically encapsulated. Load
cells with maximum capacity of 10 kg are in preparation. The housing
consists entirely of stainless steel so that the load cell is
insensitive to all cleaning and disinfection agents currently used in
the food industry. The completely cylindrical design means the PW25 can
be very easily cleaned. The platform load cell has an integrated
overload stop that prevents it from being ... |

New SCATEC copy counter detects
newspapers in conveyor clamps |
| |
Baumer:
The new member of the SCATEC sensor family was developed in particular
to precisely and reliably count newspapers in conveyor belts. The
sensor’s ability to recognize whether none, one, two or even more papers
are transported is a unique feature. It makes sure that there is no
paper missing in the conveyor clamp, therefore avoiding deficiencies,
and, most of all, that there never are more than the intended numbers of
copies because too many papers can cause machine breakdowns in the
further processing of the papers. Another highlight is the additional
connector on the very compact housing of the new copy counter. Via this
plug a
photoelectric
sensor or
inductive sensor can be connected directly to
the SCATEC , including their power supply, in order to synchronize the
copy counter with the machine operating cycle. Object speed of up to 5
m/s and copy thickness of up to 0.25 mm are no problem for the sensor
and its large sensing range of 120 mm facilitates the installation. With
the ScaDiag software the sensor can be programmed quickly ... |

The PW27 platform load cell meets the
EHEDG guideline |
| |
HBM
is now introducing the platform load cell PW27, the only one on the
market to meet the EHEDG guideline for applications in the food sector.
This new platform
load cell, initially available with a maximum capacity
of 20 kg, has an integrated overload stop that prevents it from being
damaged if the load is too great. Load cells with maximum capacity of 10
kg are in preparation. Hygiene plays an increasingly important role in
the food industry. The reasons for this lie in the increasing consumer
demand for the freshest possible foodstuffs without preservatives.
Globalization, with in part long transport chains, also contributes to
the increasing necessity of production under absolutely perfect
conditions hygienically. The European Hygienic Engineering & Design
Group (EHEDG) – an association of manufacturers, food producers and
research institutes – is therefore working on specific guidelines that
guarantee the best possible hygiene during food production. The main
aspect is to achieve problem-free cleaning of all plants and components
used. For this reason, the PW27 platform load cell is cylindrical ... |

Absolute encoder with Power over EtherCat,
Extremely short cycle times |
| |
Baumer:
EtherCAT as an Ethernet solution is conquering all levels of industry
automation, from process control level down to field and sensor level.
Power over EtherCAT enables fieldbus signal transmission and power
supply using a single cable. The expensive and often troublesome double
cabling needed so far is no longer necessary. The considerable cost
advantage is associated with another effect: Supplementary mains units
are no longer required either. Power over EtherCAT is particularly
suited for places difficult to access or where a tangle of cables would
hamper. Furthermore, central uninterruptible power supply is improving
the failsafe performance of the connected devices. Now also encoders
benefit from these technology enhancements. Baumer has enhanced their
dependable and practice-proven EtherCAT absolute encoder ATD 2B with the
Power-over- EtherCAT functionality. The expensive and often troublesome
double cabling required for fieldbus signal transmission and power
supply is no longer necessary. By the extremely short cycle time of only
62,5 μs the encoder sets new standards in realtime communication between
drives and control systems. Errors resulting from delayed feedback of
position data now finally belong to the past. The optical absolute
encoder utilizes a 14 bit singleturn resolution, as (gearless) multiturn
encoder ... |

SCHMIDT Technology: Flow sensors for
cleanrooms |
| |
Defined
overpressure ensures the product and process safety in cleanrooms. If
the required pressure measurement by means of a
flow sensor is provided additionally, for example by means of SS
20.400 by Schmidt Technology, the controlled air volume
adjustment can help to improve the energy efficiency in cleanrooms
significantly. To obtain excess pressure in cleanrooms, very high volume
flows are usually required in the air-conditioning system. Not least for
safety reasons and due to reliable measurement of pressure by means of
differential pressure sensors, the standard EN ISO 14644 specifies
excess pressure values in the range from 5 to 20 Pascal. For example in
pharmaceutical cleanrooms, they often lie between 15 and 30 Pascal and
even higher. The air volume required to control the room pressure
accounts for the significant share of the energy consumption by an air
conditioning system to supply cleanrooms. Practical experience prove
that just the current consumption of the ventilators makes up
approximately ... |

Miniature In-Line Charge Amplifiers,
4705M Series |
| |
Dytran
Instruments has recently expanded their line of miniature in-line
charge amplifiers. The 4705M series represents a family of four charge
amplifiers, with fixed sensitivities between 0.5 and 50 mV/pC. They
feature 10-32 input jacks and BNC output jacks. The 4705M series are
in-line and housed in a miniature, stainless steel package. They were
designed with similar characteristics to the 4705A series, except there
is no filtering in these charge amplifiers. Also, the 4705M have a 0.5
second discharge time constant which improves the low end frequency
response. The 4705A features a BNC input connector, compared to the
10-32 input connector of the 4705M. In-line charge amplifiers are
designed to be used in a Hybrid System, which combines charge mode
accelerometers, miniature in-line fixed sensitivity charge
amplifiers, and an IEPE power unit. They are ideal for field use because
of their small size and rugged construction. Charge mode sensors require
charge amplifiers, such as the 4705M and 4705A, to convert their output
signals to useful voltage levels. The charge amplifier is placed between
the charge mode sensor ... |
