World’s smallest digital
humidity sensor:
SHT21 |
| |
With
its new SHT21, Sensirion has presented the smallest digital
humidity and
temperature sensor to an intrigued audience in 2009. In the
meantime the sensor has been characterized and qualified, and thousands
of samples have been provided to interested users. The start of serial
production is scheduled for April 2010. The SHT21 consists of a newly
designed, sophisticated sensor chip encapsulated in a DFN 3-0 package.
With this encapsulation the chip is completely over-molded, except the
humidity sensing area. In this way, the components size is reduced to a
3x3-mm footprint with 1.1-mm height. Additionally, over-molding provides
excellent protection against aging and ambient impact, such as
condensation and harsh environments, and thus yields outstanding
long-term stability. The fully calibrated state of the sensor and its
true I2C digital interface ensure an easy application. Analog output
modes (such as PWM) are available on request. The digital communication
mode enables superb low power consumption: A value in the range of 3μW
at normal operation is well achieved and it may be lowered further by
increasing the measurement interval. Typical sensor accuracy is ... |

High Accuracy HDI Pressure Sensors Offer
3 V Supply Versions for Battery Powered Applications |
| |
Sensortechnics
GmbH’ HDI sensors measure absolute, differential or gage pressures
in various ranges from 10 mbar up to 5 bar. The HDI series features 3 V
supply versions which are ideally suitable for battery powered
applications, e.g. in portable or handheld devices. HDI pressure sensors
perform precision digital signal conditioning and achieve ultra high
accuracies with an excellent Total Error Band (TEB) better than ±0.5 %FSS
over a temperature range of 0…+85 °C. The HDI series provides digital
interfaces with I²C bus protocol and analog 0.5 … 4.5 V output signals
at the same time therefore allowing customers to build up a redundancy
functionality for safety critical applications. The sensors are intended
to be used with air and non-corrosive gases and offer various
unidirectional, bidirectional or barometric calibrations as well as
different accuracy classes. Miniature SMT and DIP housings allow for
space-saving PCB-mounting and maximum OEM design flexibility. A wide
selection of sensor configurations are available from stock at
Sensortechnics. All HDI
pressure sensors can be modified ... |

Measuring
laser sensor for distances up
to 4 m |
| |
Baumer
has recently added the laser
distance sensor OADM 250 to its portfolio.
The sensor is based on time of flight technology and covers an operating
distance of 4 m – even on black objects. The OADM 250 complements
Baumer’s broad range of laser distance sensors. Sensors of the same size
working with the triangulation principle reach their limit at distances
of 1 m. This is where the OADM 250 comes in. It is suitable for
applications in which distances between 0.2 m and 4 m have to be
measured. Thanks to a special calibration, the measurement is
independent of the object color and surface properties. The repeat
accuracy (+/- 5 mm), linearity (+/ 20 mm) and short measuring repetition
rate of 10 ms allow precise measurements also on moving objects. The
compact design of the sensor facilitates its integration into the
application, and especially any retro fitting. The integrated standard
alarm output improves the process safety. This output reports if the
sensor cannot interpret the received signal due to too heavy soiling. ... |

High-performance contrast scanners in
compatible housing variant 20B |
| |
In
2009 Leuze electronic introduced the KRT 3B, the smallest
contrast scanner in the industry with exceptional performance. With
version KRT 20B, this technology is now available in a larger housing
variant. The KRT 20B are, as is typical for Leuze electronic,
manufactured in an extremely robust plastic housing using a special
manufacturing process. Mounting points made of stainless steel ensure a
secure connection. Four optical systems with outlet on the front and
upper-front face, each with lengthwise or horizontal orientation of the
light spot, ensure flexibility in mounting. The new KRT 20B is available
in two power classes, standard and advanced, with switching frequencies
of 6 and 10 kHz, respectively. The user can select from multicolor (RGB
light) and monochromatic (white light) transmitter variants. Teaching
with ′easy tune′, remote teaching via pin 2, pulse stretching ... |

Miniature Rotary Encoder Kit |
| |
POSIC
introduces the highly miniaturized inductive
rotary encoder kit ID1101C. The encoder-head measures only 9.0 x 6.8
mm with a thickness of 0.9 mm and provides A and B outputs in quadrature.
The codewheel diameter is 28.2 mm with a thickness of 0.9 mm. The
encoder is available in resolutions from 9 up to 14 bits, which
corresponds to 128 up to 4098 CPR (Counts Per Revolution). The maximum
speed depends on the resolution and ranges from 2’500 RPM at 14 bits up
to 40’000 RPM at 10 bits or lower. The main features of this kit encoder
are its extremely small dimensions and its insensitivity to dust, water,
oil, grease and even magnetic fields. Typical applications are in the
mechatronics and motion-control domains as speed or position feedback
device ... |
