solution in Continuous Vacuum Pans is very important to ensure proper
crystal structure and high product quality. The LB 565 Micro-Polar Brix
monitors the concentration (Brix) of the sugar solution online and
allows for a very precise determination of the seeding point. Based on
microwave measuring technology the sophisticated system provides highly
accurate and repeatable results, as it is not affected by colour or
other process variations. Micro-Polar Brix uses the multiple frequency

Sensonor Technologies AS is developing, SAR500, a novel
high-precision, low-noise, high-stability, calibrated and compensated
digital oscillatory gyroscope with SPI interface housed in a rigid
custom-made ceramic package. The SAR500 contains a Butterfly™ MEMS die
and an analog ASIC, housed in a rigid custom-made ceramic package. An
FPGA or a digital ASIC contains the needed control and functional
algorithms to achieve the superior performance. The device is
factory-calibrated and compensated for temperature effects to provide
high-accuracy digital output over a broad temperature range. A perfect
tuning of the excitation and detection frequencies, as well as perfect
mechanical and electrical balancing of the dual masses result in very
low sensitivity to shock and vibrations. The sensing element consists of
a system of two identical masses suspended by means of asymmetric
springs to pedestals designed to minimize the mechanical and thermal

A
development project for a bore hole sensor originally conceived by
Micro-Epsilon in 2009 has now resulted in a commercially available
sensor product. The miniature confocal sensor with a diameter of just
3.5mm can now be used for measuring bore holes with diameters of 4.0mm
or higher. The sensor, which is rotated by an electric servomotor, can
be used to measure a number of bore hole characteristics, for example,
the diameter, roundness, concentricity, tapers and straightness. A
sophisticated integrated precision ball bearing system provides the
required rotation stability. The system comprises a stainless steel
measuring head with integrated mechanics, a sensor probe with integrated
confocal sensor, as well as two controllers. Similar to the linear
standard systems, the confocal technology is suitable for numerous
surface types. The system does not require any reference points during
measurements, as it is able to recognise edges and steps. Measuring
tapered bore holes is only possible at full power, otherwise the light
spot is reflected past the optical system. However, in the case of a
suitable target surface, a measurement of the diffuse reflection with

the FlexLevel Switch 4101 Baumer presents a new sensor which is
based on frequency sweep technology. The device detects the level of
liquids, viscous fluids and dry media. Due to the smooth, very small
sensor head even adhesive media don’t stick whereby the adhesion error
is very low. The
level switch is suitable for overfill protection, low level
detection, dry running protection and phase separation. It can be
installed in any position and even at points difficult to access. The
FlexLevel Switch 4101 can be easily configured on PC via the
FlexProgrammer 9701. A frequency is swept by the transmitter and becomes
subject to a phase shift depending on the media. When in contact with
the media having a different dielectric constant (DC) outside the
selected DC range, an electronic switch is triggered. The high
sensitivity over a large sensing range from DC 1.5 up to more than 100
allows the level detection of all kinds of powders, granulates and
liquids. Even difficult substances like polyamide granulate or paper can
