Eddy
Current Sensor Offers Improved Displacement Measurements |
| |
Lion
Precision: The ECL101 Eddy-Current
displacement sensor is an improved, CE compliant version of Lion
Precision’s original ECL100 sensor. The ECL101 noncontact sensor offers
improvements in immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and
thermal stability as well as lower power consumption. The linear output
sensor is available with a selection of probes offering measurement
ranges from 0.5mm to 15mm, and features a unique front panel range
indicator to alert the operator to out-of-range conditions. The sensor
has applications in any industry requiring precision noncontact
displacement measurement, especially in a hostile environment involving
fluids or debris in the measurement area ... |

New measuring principle for low cost
displacement sensors |
| |
Micro-Epsilon
has developed a completely new displacement measurement principle with
its new Magnetic Displacement Sensor (MDS). In contrast to the widely
used Hall Effect principle, the MDS is based on a method patented by
Micro-Epsilon, which is based on a linear relationship between the
position of the magnet and the output signal. As printed coils are used
for this measurement principle, the manufacturing method does not depend
on semiconductor processes. This makes customer-specific adaptations
considerably easier. The sensors have an extremely high basic
sensitivity, which enables a very simple and low cost evaluation
circuit. With an
eddy current sensor as the technological core, very
fast, high resolution versions can be achieved. Compared to
Hall Effect
sensors, much larger measuring ranges (currently 60mm limit) can be
achieved. In addition, significantly smaller magnets are required as the
target. ... |

PCB Load & Torque Universal Single
Channel Telemetry System |
| |
PCB
Load & Torque, Inc., introduces their new Series 8179 Universal
Single Channel Telemetry Systems. These systems provide a simple,
accurate method of transmitting strain
torque, thermocouple or voltage
signals on rotating or moving machinery while operating in a completely
contactless mode. Power is transferred inductively and the signal is RF-transferred
between the moving and static component – no brushes or wires required.
This method guarantees an absolute maintenance-free continuous operation
and accurate transmission of measured data. The Universal Single Channel
Telemetry System is compact in size and light weight which allows for
quick and easy installations in areas where space is at a premium
without affecting the dynamic properties of the shaft. The universal
receiving electronics allows the user to power and condition strain
gage, thermocouple, or voltage sensors from a single module. Power

New In-Line Amplifier for DC
Strain Gage Transducers |
| |
The
new Series AP5201 In-Line Amplifier from Stellar Technology is a
low cost, easy-to-use, general purpose signal conditioner. This single
channel unit is ideal for DC-excited strain gage
pressure transducers,
load cells, and
torque transducers. AP5201 features an advanced analog design which
solves the problem of measurement inaccuracy caused by high
electromechanical noise. The AP5201 provides filtered analog output of
±5Vdc, ±10Vdc, or 4-20 mA, which is field-selectable by the user. Zero
and span adjustments are made through coarse rotary switches and
potentiometers. This in-line amplifier will accommodate a wide range of
full-bridge DC strain gage sensors with bridge resistance for 120 to 10K
Ohm. The AP5201 signal conditioner can be placed in-line and away from
high temperature, high humidity, or corrosive environments that the
transducer itself may be exposed to, thus protecting the electronics
from severe conditions and ensuring reliable performance. The AP5201
in-line amp is also useful when mated to miniature and subminiature load
cells or pressure transducers which are too small to ... |

Level measurement in cavities with only
4mm diameter |
| |
SNT
Sensortechnik AG: Many industrial applications can be solved with
the miniature
ultrasonic sensors series UPS, where optical, inductive or
capacitive sensors might have problems with detection. Furthermore
with the UPS sensors with analogue output a precise distance or
level measurement can be realized, with a precision of approx.
0.3mm, with 0…10V or 4…20mA output. The special version “FOCUS Beam”
(center on picture) has a focusing device for the ultrasound. It has
been particularly successful in various applications. It proved its
advantage in the detection through very narrow openings. Since the FOCUS
Beam does not have any disadvantageous blind range, one can place it
very close (few millimeters only) to the opening of a cavity. There the
beam is only 3mm wide in diameter. This allows e.g. to measure the level
in only 4mm wide cavities with an accuracy of only few 1/10mm. The other
special version "CP" (Chemical Protection, right on picture) has a PTFE
diaphragm with a protective sleeve. This can be used as a level sensor
also in small containers with aggressive liquids. SNT Sensortechnik AG
is a specialist in ultrasonic sensors ... |

Sensonor announces a breakthrough in MEMS
gyro performance |
| |
Sensonor
Technologies AS releases today SIMU202 a multi axis high performance
gyro module enabling safety critical applications in the Aerospace and
Defense markets, offering an immediate choice to system designers to
displace large, expensive, fragile and prone to wear current FOG or
mechanical gyro sensors. SIMU202 is a milestone in the continued efforts
of Sensonor Technologies to expand the boundaries of MEMS gyro
performance. SIMU202 is a multi-axis gyro module with in-run bias
stability of better than 2°/h and angular random walk as low as
0.2°/Hz. These are the best values ever reported for an industrialized
MEMS gyro module. The input range is ±400°/s. The output signal is a 24
bits digital signal calibrated over the entire temperature range. The
excellent performance of SIMU202 offers an alternative to FOG and
mechanical gyros which are the current available technologies in the
market ... |

Texys International, sensor manufacturer
specialist for embedded applications, is introducing its new miniature
digital pyrometer, Texense IRN2 |
| |
This
IRN2 product has a very good price to performance ratio. This Texense
IRN2 miniature digital pyrometer allows contact free
temperature measurement of objects several centimeters away by
detecting the infrared rays emitted by these objects. Its reduced
dimensions allow it to be integrated into production equipment or
systems. The emissivity ratio may be adjusted by programming the product
via a USB cable. The Texense IRN2 gives analog and digital outputs. It
can operate independently with the analogue output. The output signal is
perfectly linear. Linked via a USB port to a computer, the IRN2 digital
pyrometer can send temperature ... |

Air velocity transmitter for 0.2 to 20
m/s |
| |
The
new miniature air velocity transmitters, series EE575 and EE576 of
E+E Elektronik, allow accurate
measurements of flow in air and
gases. The EE575 measures velocities up to 20 m/s (4000 ft/min). The
EE576 is specifically designed for the measurement of low flows up to 2
m/s (400 ft/min). Applications for these transmitters are found in HVAC
systems, handling and controls for intake and exhaust of air and laminar
flow monitoring. Equipped with a newly developed sensor head and
utilizing the proven E+E hot-film element, already tested a million
times in the automotive industry, these transmitters are less sensitive
to dust and dirt than conventional hot-wire elements. The design with a
probe length of 150 mm (6 inch) and the integrated electronics can be
considered very compact. This allows for the use in applications where
mounting space is limited. The alignment strip along the side of the
probe and the matching mounting flange secures the positioning of the
sensor and the immersion depth of the probe is infinitely variable. That
saves time and prevents ... |
