Level measurement in cavities with only
4mm diameter |
| |
SNT
Sensortechnik AG: Many industrial applications can be solved with
the miniature
ultrasonic sensors series UPS, where optical, inductive or
capacitive sensors might have problems with detection. Furthermore
with the UPS sensors with analogue output a precise distance or
level measurement can be realized, with a precision of approx.
0.3mm, with 0…10V or 4…20mA output. The special version “FOCUS Beam”
(center on picture) has a focusing device for the ultrasound. It has
been particularly successful in various applications. It proved its
advantage in the detection through very narrow openings. Since the FOCUS
Beam does not have any disadvantageous blind range, one can place it
very close (few millimeters only) to the opening of a cavity. There the
beam is only 3mm wide in diameter. This allows e.g. to measure the level
in only 4mm wide cavities with an accuracy of only few 1/10mm. The other
special version "CP" (Chemical Protection, right on picture) has a PTFE
diaphragm with a protective sleeve. This can be used as a level sensor
also in small containers with aggressive liquids. SNT Sensortechnik AG
is a specialist in ultrasonic sensors for more than 20 years ... |

Now an even broader product lineup,
Extensions for Safety Switches and Safety Locking Devices |
| |
The
2NC/1NO contact block is now also available in nearly all series of the
Safety Switches and Safety Locking Devices from Leuze electronic.
As a result, safety-oriented applications can be extended with these
devices to include signals for status messages. For example, when using
a switch, the position status of a door (open/closed) can be passed on
to the control, in addition to the E-STOP function. The advantage is
obvious: installation effort is reduced considerably for the user, as he
no longer needs the second sensor for this signal. In addition, a new
model of the S400 Safety Hinge Switch—the S410—is available with wider
fork dimensions. It was dimensioned for greater profile thicknesses and
special materials. That predestines this switch for glass and plastic
hoods, for example, since the fasteners, which lie further inward,
provide additional stability here. ... |

Kavlico’s Common-Rail
Pressure Sensor Provides Improved Power & Torque for Diesel Engines |
| |
Kavlico,
a global business unit of Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST), has
designed a sensor to measure common-rail pressure in diesel engines. The
advantages of monitoring common rail pressure are many; including
increasing engine power & torque, improving fuel economy, reducing
engine noise, and improving vehicle drive-ability while creating cleaner
exhaust emissions. With today’s restrictive emissions standards, keeping
exhaust particulate emissions within the mandated levels is a must… and
Kavlico’s common-rail sensor is an essential element of the common-rail
injection system. Pressure is regulated and monitored by the Electronic
Diesel Control Unit (EDCU) which receives an electronic input from the
Kavlico pressure sensor. The sensor operates on 5 Vdc and provides a 0.5
to 4.5 Vdc linear amplified analog output proportional to pressure to
the EDCU. The highly accurate and ruggedly designed sensor uses a thin
film TiON sense element which provides highly reliable and repeatable
measurements. The cost-effective sensor is EMI/EMC protected, has low
power consumption, and is capable of operation in high vibration
environments. Fully temperature compensated across the entire
measurement range, the sensor has an operational temperature of ... |

Novel edge control with ultrasonic fork
sensor |
| |
SNT
Sensortechnik AG: Edges of running webs and belts get laterally
misaligned after a short time without permanent external control.
Typical applications are found for example in the manufacture and
processing of foils, paper, tin or textiles, but also for drive belts.
Previously, mechanical or optical sensors have been used to determine
the lateral position of the edge in order to continuously adjust
mechanically. These are often too slow or too sensitive to dirt and
dust. Moreover,
optical sensors cannot reliably detect edges of transparent or
partially transparent material. Especially modern packaging and labeling
foils have these properties: they are transparent and partially printed.
The new ultrasonic fork sensors series UPF-A of SNT Sensortechnik AG
have been developed exactly for these applications. They consist of a
transmitter and receiver who exchange ultrasonic signals. The
ultrasonic transducers are developed and manufactured in-house.
Depending on the coverage of the edge, more or less signal is received.

The Next Level in Quality Control |
| |
EMX
Industries Inc., a manufacturer of sensors for automation,
introduces a line of sophisticated quality control sensors. These high
speed sensors measure relative: luminescence, contrast, opacity, and
brightness; of opaque and transparent
colors. Speeds range from 2,000 to
40,000 parts per second. Vision sensors are sometimes just too much:
Most
vision systems do their work as intended and are becoming more
affordable over time. As prices drop, there is the temptation to apply
vision in applications that are not optimal for vision system (over-kill.)
Since the sensors available until now were basic and not capable of
handling more demanding application requirements, this temptation can be
even stronger. EMX has introduced a series of sensors, that is
performance rich, and also amazingly easy to set up and maintain. These
sensors give “solution providers” a versatile tool in their box, that is
highly sophisticated compared to ordinary sensors in the industry. EMX
sensors are industry leaders in speed, versatility and reliability. EMX
in-line quality control sensors. The ColorMax, UVX, Britex, CNTX, and
OPAX series of sensors ... |
