Interference-resistant pressure
transmitters |
| |
Keller
AG für Druckmesstechnik, has implemented a new concept for
temperature compensation and for protection from electromagnetic fields
(EMC) in the recently approved Series 21 Y
pressure transmitters. With
measuring ranges between 2 bar and 1000 bar, the Series 21 Y
transmitters can be used at temperatures ranging from -20 °C to +100 °C
in any industrial application, even in the immediate proximity of
frequency converters. Particular attention has been paid to providing
low-cost calibration that guarantees a maximum Total Error Band of ±1.5
%FS over the entire standard temperature range of -10 °C to +80 °C.
Extensive data collection, such as that required by polynomial
correction schemes, is replaced by a much simpler, costeffective method.
The temperature range is divided into as many as 120 subdivisions, of
1.5 Kelvin each, by an integrated temperature sensor and an additional
digital circuit. The compensation values for TK zero point and TK
amplification for each of these subdivisions are calculated individually
in accordance with a mathematical model and stored in the transmitter.
These values are fed into the analogue signal path during operation
depending on the temperature, without having to reduce the 2 kHz
bandwidth. Series 21 Y transmitters are ... |

New low cost
laser sensors |
| |
The
new low cost optoNCDT1302 laser sensor from Micro-Epsilon
replaces the optoNCDT 1300 in the product range. The new sensor will be
on show for the first time at the SPS|IPC|DRIVES exhibition in Nürnberg.
Compared to its predecessor, this model provides a measuring rate of
750Hz and is available for the first time with an RS422 port in addition
to the analogue current / voltage output. The sensor has a trigger and a
teach-in input, which enables the user to individually adjust the
measuring range. Another special feature of the sensor is the integrated
peak evaluation for selection of the first, last or highest peak
measurement. Also new is the Threshold Function for adjustment of the
threshold setting in three stages. The optoNCDT 1302 provides
flexibility via a swivelling cable connector so that the direction of
the cable output can be selected depending on the individual
application. As before, the new series comprises four sensors, which
offer measuring ranges between 5mm and 200mm. Together with the
integrated controller, the very compact design facilitates rapid
mounting and installation in tight spaces. The optoNCDT 1302 is suitable
for all common measurement tasks. Despite its compact dimensions, the
1302 series provides precise measurement results and is therefore ideal
for machine building and system integration. ... |

Distributed level measurements via the
GSM network, Wireless communication with data loggers all over the world |
| |
Keller
AG für Druckmesstechnik has now developed a universal, energy-optimised
radio module with integrated data logger. The GSM-2 remote data
transmission unit and the free PC software allow you to conveniently
observe levels, measurements and trends and monitor limits from the
comfort of your office. This applies to groundwater levels, waste water
levels and the filling levels of mobile tanks on vehicles. However, it
also applies to completely different measurements from appropriate
sensors with suitable output signals. The cylindrical design of the
GSM-2 with a diameter of just 48 mm has been chosen so that the data
logger, which ”selfdials” in accordance with user requirements, can
simply be placed in the top of a normal 2-inch diameter sounding pipe
that is used in groundwater measuring equipment. Installation takes a
matter of seconds. The housing is designed to withstand condensation and
being under water for short periods. The GSM antenna is covered with a
lockable covering cap made from solid plastic. The data logger is
therefore protected from theft and vandalism when

TEDSdongle from HBM saves time and
configuration costs for sensors |
| |
The
TEDSdongle extends HBM’s support of Transducer Electronic Data
Sheet (TEDS) technology which ensures measurement chains can be
automatically and securely recognized and configured. The use of the
dongle in combination with TEDS-compatible sensors significantly reduces
the time and costs for the set-up of a test system or test
configuration. The automatic configuration of the sensors delivers
reliable and reproducible measurement results. The TEDSdongle allows
users to read and write TEDS information rapidly and inexpensively to
the memory chip for configuring sensors and to prepare them for
measurement tasks. TEDS data are stored according to the international
IEEE standard 1451.4, which defines manufacturer-independent standards
for electronic data sheets. Transducer data can also be archived to a PC
and easily used as a template for new sensors. The TEDS-Editor software,
supplied by HBM, aids users to parameterize the corresponding TEDS
information for their measurement tasks. The software automatically
recognizes the TEDS memory and enables the modification and
configuration of sensors in the laboratory or on site. ... |

New Melt Pressure Sensor for Higher
Precision in Measuring Nozzle Pressure |
| |
Kistler:
Melt pressure in front of the screw of injection molding machines is an
important process parameter. Machine control is critically dependent on
its precise measurement. This is because injection molding components
can only be kept within extremely tight tolerances if this pressure can
be accurately and repeatably measured and recorded over an extended
period of time. The new melt
pressure sensor Type 4021A... from Kistler
is a groundbreaking new development based on the piezoresistive
principle of measurement. It measures the important machine parameter
directly in the area in front of the screw with reproducibility errors
of <0,1 %, a linearity error of <0,5 % and a zero point change of <0,5
%. The sensor with a flat seal is supplied as a complete measuring chain
with a new amplifier that also has an output for the melt temperature.
The new melt pressure measuring chain is available for measuring ranges
of 0 ... 100, 0 ... 500, 0 ... 1 000, 0 ... 2 000 and 0 ... 3 000 bar,
and can be used at temperatures of up to 350 °C. Angled or straight
cable exits and a connector version allow it to be used on machines
presenting a wide variety of mounting situations ... |

Novel frame adapter, mounting sensors
with a double click |
| |
Baumer
introduces a new clever accessory for its Series 14
photoelectric
sensors: a novel frame adapter. This plastic adapter allows for a simple
installation of the sensors without the use of screws or tools. They are
mounted with just two clicks – quickly and efficiently. In many
applications several photoelectric sensors are employed along a conveyer
belt. In these cases it is time-consuming to screw and adjust every
single sensor. Additionally, special mounting angles are often
necessary. Now a recess in the steel sheet of 1.75 x 5.4 cm is
sufficient to install a Series 14 sensor with the frame adapter. The
sensor only has to be snapped into the adapter and together this unit is
inserted into the cut-out. Two plastic clamps secure the adapter in the
cut-out and the sensor is mounted tightly and securely. This
installation saves the user time and he can forego additional, often
expensive mounting angles. Likewise, the sensor cannot be re-adjusted or
shifted accidentally. Nevertheless, when the sensor needs to be serviced
it can be dismounted quickly. The unique frame adapter fits all Series
14 sensors from Baumer, such as diffuse sensors with background
suppression, retro-reflective sensors, or the new LED-based
distance
sensors ... |
