Photoelectric Sensors - Level measurement
on standpipes |
| |
Baumer
Electric: User-friendly level measurement? Baumer’s new
level
sensors are convincingly easy to handle. They can be mounted without
difficulty on a standpipe or a tube using the included cable tie. The
diameter of the (half) transparent standpipe on which the sensor can be
mounted can vary from 3 to 13 mm. Once they have been secured, no
further adjustments have to be made on the FFDK 16 as all required
circuitry is built in. However, a switch for dark or light switching
(D/L) is in place. In the optical fiber version, the fibers are arranged
in rows. This allows the sensor to suppress foam or air bubbles of up to
3 mm in size. Foam especially emerges often, and so far it has led to
many measurement errors with
optical level measurement systems. Thanks
to the PFI material used, the sensor is also resistant to chemicals.
Another advantage of the optical fiber version ... |

New optoNCDT1402 laser sensor from
Micro-Epsilon |
| |
The
new optoNCDT1402
laser sensor from Micro-Epsilon replaces the
company’s previous optoNCDT 1401 product. The new sensor provides
improved performance and extreme flexibility. This flexibility comes
from a brand new Teach-In function, which can be used to limit or change
the measuring range for each application. In this way, both the
resolution and the linearity of the sensor in the pre-set measuring
range can be significantly improved. This is of particular benefit in
applications where only a small measuring range but high performance is
required. The flexibility of the optoNCDT 1402 is further enhanced by an
integrated swivelling cable connector, which can be used to change the
direction of the cable output to suit the individual application. By
utilising a CMOS sensor, the optoNCDT 1402 has an increased measuring
rate of 1.5kHz making it suitable for rapid processes. An RS422 digital
interface is provided, as well as analogue current / voltage output. As
before, the new series comprises seven sensors, which have measuring
ranges between 5mm and 250mm. Together with the integrated controller,
the very compact design makes mounting faster and easier and
installation is possible in ... |

PBX microswitches for industrial and
railway equipment |
| |
The
PBX is the latest newcomer to Crouzet’s range of microswitches
for industrial and railway equipment. It has been developed and tested
in compliance with current standards (EN 60 947, DIN 41 636 type F, NF
EN 50 124-1, NFF 16 101/102). The electrical configuration of this
switch is based on a double insulated failsafe circuit (1 NO + 1 NC)
with two types of contact (silver or gold-plated silver) available,
based on the voltages and switching loads involved. Available in IP40,
IP 65 or IP67 versions, the sealing design is patented. The PBX has a
mechanical service life of 10 million cycles and features a long
pushbutton travel range after reaching the electrical switching point,
which helps to absorb any deviations from mechanical tolerances during
equipment wear over time. The modularity of the range means that there
is a vast range of readily available configurations ... |

Results of the visitor poll for
SENSOR+TEST 2009 now available |
| |
AMA
Association for Sensor Technology: Even in economically difficult
times, the SENSOR+TEST is staying on its successful track. This
conclusion was already indicated at the end of the fair and is now
confirmed by the results of the visitor poll. A neutral market research
institute carried out polls during the three days of the fair regarding
the competence and motivation of the visitors. In a further poll, the
majority of the exhibitors proved to be clearly satisfied. Although the
number of visitors was slightly lower compared to last year, the
expectations of the exhibitors at the fair were exceeded. „Obviously
we’re not happy about the decrease in visitor figures of about 11%
compared to last year. However, under the present conditions, that’s a
positive value,” sums up Holger Bödeker, managing director of AMA
Service GmbH, the fair organisers. An especially gratifying aspect, he
says, is that the proportion of foreign visitors could be maintained at
the high level of the previous fairs. This has not only contributed to
the positive overall result, he stated, but is also a sign for the
increasing international importance of the event. ... |

Option |
| |
FUTEK
Advanced Sensor Technology, Inc. (FUTEK) is offering their Miniature
Column Load Cell with a USB output option. The LCA300 is a Compression
Load Cell built for compact press applications. Similar to FUTEK’s
larger column
load cell models, the LCA300 may be used in press
applications but on a smaller scale where space is limited.
Traditionally a Load Cell is placed in the center of a press and can
produce one function depending on the type of press application. FUTEK
has come up with an advanced and smarter system in order to help users
receive full benefit in their applications. Using multiple Miniature
Column Load cells with a USB output you can monitor each output of the
multiple sensors easily and more effectively. Handling is lighter and
much more manageable. It is also very helpful in batch type press
applications producing higher amounts of output without worrying about a
malfunction of your load cell disrupting your entire output process. The
LCA300 Column Load Cell which is now available with USB Output
eliminates several factors such as the need for an analog amplifier,
power supply, and display equipment. The elimination of those extra
factors makes usage easy to use and much more effective. Measurement is
also less affected by noise, temperature variation or power supply
requirement with this simple plug and play system. With this USB
integration you can have the power to monitor the output of the sensor
which ... |
