PBX microswitches for industrial and
railway equipment |
| |
The
PBX is the latest newcomer to Crouzet’s range of microswitches
for industrial and railway equipment. It has been developed and tested
in compliance with current standards (EN 60 947, DIN 41 636 type F, NF
EN 50 124-1, NFF 16 101/102). The electrical configuration of this
switch is based on a double insulated failsafe circuit (1 NO + 1 NC)
with two types of contact (silver or gold-plated silver) available,
based on the voltages and switching loads involved. Available in IP40,
IP 65 or IP67 versions, the sealing design is patented. The PBX has a
mechanical service life of 10 million cycles and features a long
pushbutton travel range after reaching the electrical switching point,
which helps to absorb any deviations from mechanical tolerances during
equipment wear over time. The modularity of the range means that there
is a vast range of readily available configurations ... |

Non-contact
torque sensor now mounts in moments |
| |
Sensor
Technology Ltd: The latest model of TorqSense, the non-contact
digital torque measuring system, incorporates an integral sprocket or
pulley, allowing easy fit-and-forget mounting in a vast range of plant
and machinery such as drum mixers, generators, pump, dynamometers and
conveyor drives. Earlier models of TorqSense provided an in-line shaft
for connection to the equipment under test. While these are suitable for
many situations, sometimes mean a degree of engineering was necessary to
mount the unit. This prompted torque system manufacturers Sensor
Technology, of Banbury, to develop this new user-friendly series of
models. The new RWT 350/360 TorqSense is suitable for virtually any
plant driven by a belt or chain drive, particularly those where space is
limited or access restricted. The ease of fitting is also likely to be
of interest for jobs where it is essential to minimise downtime, such as
in continuous process plant. “Belt and chain drives naturally have a
high radial load, which has to be accounted for when mounting a standard
TorqSense,” explains Tony Ingham of Sensor Technology. ... |

automotive position sensor with
SENT protocol lowers cost and improves performance under hood |
| |
SENT
protocol for Engine Management devices gains support with launch of
first fully integrated SENT
rotary position sensor IC, MLX90324 by
Melexis. High temperature performance and integrated support for the
SENT (Single Edge Nibble Transmission) characterize the new MLX90324.
Under-hood position sensor applications like EGR, manifold actuation,
diesel throttle body, drive-by-wire pedals and other rotary, high
precision
position sensors become simpler, more reliable and more cost
effective. The increased demand for sensors to meet new green standards
in engine design can be well supported by Melexis MLX90324. This newest
member in the Triaxistm family extends the features of previous award
winning Triaxistm rotary position sensor ICs. The MLX90324 implements
the SENT protocol–also known as SAE J2716-Apr07 directly on chip for
reporting functions and gains improved performance at high temperature. ... |

Xsens and Time Domain Partner to Advance
Entertainment Industry 3D Tracking Technology |
| |
|
Xsens Technologies B.V., the leader in 3D tracking systems, and
Time Domain Corporation, the leader in ultra wideband (UWB) real-time
location systems (RTLS), today announced a partnership that will advance
the entertainment industry’s 3D tracking and motion capture systems.
Xsens will unveil the new tracking system’s capabilities at the SIGGRAPH
conference (August 3 – 7) in New Orleans at booth 2819. The partnership
is based on Time Domain’s Precision Location Ultra Wideband System
(PLUS) technology combined with Xsens’ inertial sensor technology and
builds on the success of Xsens’ MVN full-body cameraless motion capture
system. Xsens MVN, which is already in use among top developers at
Electronic Arts, Industrial Light and Magic, Sony Pictures Imageworks,
THQ and others, will enable gaming and visual effects developers to
track extremely large spaces in demanding environmental circumstances in
real time. It will also eliminate the line-of-sight restrictions
associated with existing camera-based systems. “The combination of MVN
with UWB technology meets industry demands for scalable multi-person
motion capture systems that can be used on location and provide robust
data in real time for on-set previsualization,” said Per Slycke, founder
and CTO of Xsens. “This is a huge step forward in providing the
entertainment sector with the best, ground breaking and non-intrusive
technologies available. It is great working with a company that
understands the level of integration needed to make UWB work with
