WebConverter makes gas detectors fit for
the Internet |
| |
Conventional
gas detectors mostly transmit their measured values via a 4-20 mA
output. While such data has to date frequently been further processed
locally by means of special gas warning units, nowadays many users want
to query their measured values online or evaluate them with their own
systems. That is why J. Dittrich Elektronic has developed a
WebConverter that converts the analogue measuring signals from up to
three detectors into digital signals using Modbus TCP/IP protocol. Since
both the measured value is output and the power supplied over the
Ethernet (PoE), the WebConverter is connected to the downstream device
with a patch cable. The WebConverter has its own web server as well as a
MAC address. Using configuration software, it is therefore possible to
configure the WebConverter from a PC and integrate ... |

Robust Pressure Transmitter for
Aeronautical Equipment |
| |
A
new
pressure transmitter especially for aeronautical applications has
been developed by Baumer’s product segment Process
Instrumentation. Completely made of stainless steel, the compact device
meets the high requirements for the use in aviation operations and can
be deployed for the
pressure measurement of most gases and liquids. The
transmitter for aeronautic applications is resistant to any harsh
conditions due to temperature, altitude, humidity, salt spray, sand and
dust, rain, contaminants, vibrations or shocks and offers a high
electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The sensor based on thin film
technology is able to measure a pressure range from 0 to 250 bar and
constructed for an overpressure of up to 315 bar. The burst pressure is
at 470 bar. Within a temperature range of -40°C to +120°C, the accuracy
is ±1.25% of the measuring span. The transmitter has a 1…5 Volt output
signal and a supply voltage of 10 Volt. Weighing less than 125 g, the
device is very compact. Baumer developed the transmitter for ... |

Turbocharger Telemetry at 200,000 rpm |
| |
Manner
Sensortelemetrie GmbH: In a time when oil prices are constantly
rising and CO2 is being talked about in continually expanding circles,
the fuel consumption is extremely important for its sales success. The
turbocharger contributes to improving vehicle efficiency. For this
reason, a series of new turbocharger developments is going on right now.
During validation, the rotating components must especially be evaluated
and optimized with regard to stress with respect to their load limits in
various operating situations. It is known that these turbochargers in
vehicle applications turn at speeds of up to 200,000 rpm. Manner
Sensortelemetrie has developed a miniature 4 channel system which is
capable of operating at 200,000 rpm for prolonged periods. This allows
the measurement of bearing temperatures, torque and blade vibrations
online. The sensor signal amplifier screws into the end of the turbo
shaft with the surrounding annular stator antenna attached to the turbo
inlet duct. The sensor signal amplifier is 35 mm long, 6 mm diameter and
weights 5 g. The measurement signal and the energy are ... |

Micro-encoder EcoMag – the
high-performance dwarf |
| |
Baumer:
EcoMag, the magnetic incremental encoder series marked by ruggedness and
efficiency is completed by an-other ultra-sturdy miniaturized
configuration - BRIV 30R. Only 30 mm in diameter, IP 67 protection, an
ex-tended temperature range down to -40°C and a steel flange create an
encoder that was made for use under extreme conditions. Less any optical
components it is ultra-resistant to shocks, vibrations and temperature
and typically applied in position sensing at harvesters, construction
site machinery and all kinds of heavy duty vehicles. EcoMag BRIx 30R
follows the Baumer tradition of high-quality micro-sized encoders.
Together with its counterpart in the field of absolute
encoders, MAGRES
BMMV 30, Baumer provides a high-performance encoder .. |

Precision begins with design |
| |
Bürkert
announces the release of its new ELEMENT designed pH, ORP & Conductivity
Transmitters. The 8222/8202 saves time, space and headaches during
installation and commissioning in the water treatment market through its
modular and intuitive programming structure. Monitoring water chemistry
for applications such as Cooling Towers, Membrane Filtration, Industrial
Waste Treatment or Boiler Systems is simplified by integrating the
sensing element with the transmitting and display module. What most
manufacturers do with two devices, Bürkert does with one compact unit.
The Bürkert transmitter Type 8202 is a compact and modular device
specially designed for measuring the pH or O.R.P. value of fluids. The
transmitter houses a replaceable and standard 120 mm pH or O.R.P. probe
screwed in a sensor holder with an integrated Pt1000 temperature sensor.
Due to its modular and standard design, customers are now allowed to use
any standard pH electrode from the numerous suppliers available. The
Bürkert transmitter Type 8222 conductivity transmitter has 3 cell
constant options (0.01, 0.1 or 1) for applications ranging from ultra
pure quality water to industrial sewage water. As both compact
transmitters have integrated PT1000
temperature sensors incorporated ... |

Confocal sensors in hybrid technology |
| |
The
new optoNCDT confocal chromatic sensor from Micro-Epsilon
combines the benefits of two successful confocal design concepts. With
an external diameter of 8mm, the sensor is compact and slim, similar to
the optoNCDT 2402 range of miniature sensors. However, due to its larger
digital aperture, the sensor can receive significantly more reflected
light than the smaller, 4mm diameter version. In the new sensor an
ancillary lens is positioned in the light path before the thin gradient
index lens with its exactly adapted refractive index profile. Due to its
greater divergence, the so-called relay lens enables significantly more
reflected light from the target to be detected. This is particularly
beneficial if the sensor has to be tilted or if the target is
non-planar, so that the reflected light is only reflected back by an
angular deviation in the sensor. In this way, due to its larger opening
angle, the optoNCDT 2403 can perform more stable measurements on poorly
reflecting and tilted surfaces than the optoNCDT 2402. The relay lens
also increases the base distance of the sensor, which means it can be
placed further away from the measurement object. Typical applications
for the new sensor are ... |

New TROGAMID® Liquid Level Switches
Feature Very High Chemical Resistance |
| |
Sensortechnics
introduces the new OLT liquid
level switches for cost-effective optical
point level detection. These sensors feature very high chemical
resistance due to their TROGAMID® miniature plastic housings making them
suitable for a wide range of medical and industrial OEM applications.
The OLT series can be used with many liquids which are not compatible
with conventional polysulphone housings such as fuel, halogenated
hydrocarbons (e.g. chloroform), methanol, acetone and ethyl acetate.
Furthermore, TROGAMID® can also be used in direct contact with food and
drinking water. The optical OLT switches use solid state technology with
no moving parts to measure accurately and reliably the presence or
absence of liquid in tanks, reservoirs and pipes. The product range
includes basic devices with analog phototransistor outputs, switches
with microprocessor compatible TTL signals, or high power devices with
transistor outputs for switching currents up to 500 mA. With their
miniature threaded housings the OLT sensors are easy to install and
consume little space. ... |

MR318 Fiber Optic Rotary Encoder for MRI
and NMR Applications |
| |
Micronor’s
MR318 fiber optic
rotary encoder is designed specifically for use as feedback in
motion control systems operating in extreme electromagnetic fields. The
sensor's passive optical design and non-metallic construction has no
affect on MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) or NMR (nuclear magnetic
resonance) system operation or measurements. The multiturn encoder
system offers 360ppr (1°) resolution and measures both angular position
and shaft speed. MRI-related applications include feedback for actuator
or motor control, monitoring patient position or correlating foot pedal
position for fMRI diagnostics. The MR318 rotary sensor uses an
industry-standard Size 58mm synchro housing and is installed just like a
standard
encoder. The sensor then optically connects to the MR310 module via
a multimode fiber optic link. ... |

GH14D – The new reference in M5 pressure
sensors for combustion analysis |
| |
AVL
recently released the new
pressure sensor GH14D which allows the most precise measurements for
combustion analysis with a sensor of its size. The high performance of
this front sealed mounted sensor is realized by using thermally
optimized piezoelectric elements and the special AVL Double-ShellTM
design which decouples the piezoelectric elements from negative
influences of thermal expansion and other mechanical effects. A version
with a modified membrane structure is available as well which is called
GH14DK. It allows maximum pressures of up to 300 bar. This makes the
GH14DK very rigid and still accurate even under severe knocking
conditions. Both sensors are equipped with AVL’s IEEE 1451 fulfilling
sensor identification which supports AVL SensorDataManagementTM (SDM) ... |
