New optoNCDT1402 laser sensor from
Micro-Epsilon |
| |
The
new optoNCDT1402
laser sensor from Micro-Epsilon replaces the company’s
previous optoNCDT 1401 product. The new sensor provides improved
performance and extreme flexibility. This flexibility comes from a brand
new Teach-In function, which can be used to limit or change the
measuring range for each application. In this way, both the resolution
and the linearity of the sensor in the pre-set measuring range can be
significantly improved. This is of particular benefit in applications
where only a small measuring range but high performance is required. The
flexibility of the optoNCDT 1402 is further enhanced by an integrated
swivelling cable connector, which can be used to change the direction of
the cable output to suit the individual application. By utilising a CMOS
sensor, the optoNCDT 1402 has an increased measuring rate of 1.5kHz
making it suitable for rapid processes. An RS422 digital interface is
provided, as well as analogue current / voltage output. As before, the
new series comprises seven sensors, which have measuring ranges between
5mm and 250mm. Together with the integrated controller, the very compact
design makes mounting faster and easier and installation is possible in
restricted spaces. Due to its very effective, real time compensation
process for the changing reflection characteristics of different target
surfaces, the optoNCDT 1402 sensor is universally adaptable to a wide
range of tasks. ... |

DataNet System Monitors Medical Equipment
Shipment Conditions for Medtronic, Singapore |
| |
|
Fourier Systems Ltd.: For 40 years Medtronic have been pioneering
medical technologies that save and extend thousands of lives and relieve
suffering of patients all over the world. In the production of medical
equipment for surgical procedures, Medtronic must carefully monitor the
incubator storage and global shipment conditions and ensure a constant
temperature is maintained in transport between countries. The
application has a particular challenge in that the incubator walls are
made of metal, the DataNet system was able to overcome this particular
challenge by leveraging the new SRR mode. An additional DataNet is
placed inside the incubator's room and is set to SRR mode. The unit
measures room
temperature and communicates with the additional DataNet units
inside the incubators, By applying the SRR short range repeater for
DNL910 and DNL920, the technicians are able to overcome any RF barriers.
Data loggers in SRR mode must be connected to AC at all times, as with
all DNR900 units. The SRR units can connect to 24 data loggers and 16
Repeaters (Repeaters can be DNR900, DNL920 & DNL910 in SRR mode). The
Medtronic application loggers now also operate as ... |

WIKA presents solutions for the renewable
energies market |
| |
In
its latest brochure, the Klingenberg company WIKA presents itself
as a professional partner in the renewable energies market.
Pressure and
temperature monitoring are valuable in all plants producing
renewable energy. WIKA illustrates this with examples of six kinds of
this energy; wind power, water power, solar thermal, photovoltaic,
biogas and geothermal. In many plants the systems used for pressure and
temperature monitoring are as reliable as they are precise; the control
loops driven with their assistance are nearly always critical for
environmentally-sound, efficient and effective power production. Apart
from high accuracy and reliability under harsh working conditions, these
power production plants also have a particular need for economical
solutions. All of these requirements can be fulfilled by WIKA
manufacturers, currently operating worldwide and on all continents. ... |

Sensor
Technology Ltd: Aerospace development is a strategic industry within
the British economy. It creates a lot of high value jobs directly and
indirectly, while tremendous technological advances spin out of it. But
there are other positive aspects to the sector that are all too often
overlooked. We look at how one modest supplier has become a small part
of the big picture. The Spitfire, Concorde, the Eurofighter Typhoon. All
names to set a young engineer’s pulse racing. But like Lewis Hamilton’s
McLaren Mercedes they are figureheads to an industry this is often
unglamorous, hard-work, frighteningly competitive and economically
challenged. It is all too easy to lose sight of the fact that Aerospace
is an engineering industry just like any other. In reality is it just
one piece in the jigsaw that is the national economy – all be it a very
important one. Lots of engineers work in the sector their whole career,
other take aeronautic ... |
