A quantum leap in flow computer: Summit
8800 |
| |
Until
now, all flow computers were in a common category in terms of
performance, handling, and interoperability. This has changed
dramatically thanks to the new KROHNE Summit 8800 Digital Flow
Computer with graphic display. Building on a history of
flow computers that goes back to 1983, KROHNE Oil & Gas has now
introduced a truly new generation. The improvements can be seen in 5
major areas: Performance, Handling, Communications, Versatility and
Security. Performance: To improve the performance, KROHNE used modern
processors with a fast ¼ second processing cycle. Not just one shared
processor, but one dedicated processor per I/O board. We based the
internal operations on the time-tried Application Builder Software.
There is a removable 2 GB card to store data, with enough capacity for
several years. ... |

Jumo LOGOSCREEN nt paperless recorder
with stainless steel front and touch panel now has ATEX approval and is
tested to KTA 3505 |
| |
JUMO:
Claiming to record data with maximum safety and under difficult
operating conditions and being able to evaluate it simply and quickly,
is easier said than done. The third generation of the JUMO LOGOSCREEN nt
paperless recorder range was developed with just this aim in mind, so
that today, both device operation by a single control element (rotary
knob or touch panel) and data evaluation with the PCA3000 PC software,
are possible intuitively. Simple operation by just a single rotary knob
has proved itself viable in practice and with the LOGOSCREEN nt with
stainless steel front, there is also a touch panel to add a certain “fun
factor”. This allows you to operate the device just with your fingers
(even if you are wearing gloves) and is not unintentionally reminiscent
of the thoroughly successful consumer electronics from the USA. The fact
that this stainless steel version also meets the hygiene requirements of
the food and pharmaceutical industries and at the same time has shown
itself to have a high safety tolerance against aggressive cleaning
agents, merely underlines the exceptional position this instrument

The new CPG1000 precision digital
pressure gauge sets standards for accuracy and ease-of-use |
| |
With
the new CPG1000 precision
digital pressure gauge, WIKA has expanded its range of
precision
pressure measuring instruments. A high accuracy of ±0.05 % of span
and particularly easy operation make this instrument equally suited to
testing and calibration. The CPG1000 unites the concept and the
comprehensibility of an analogue pressure gauge with the high level of a
digital calibration instrument. With its stainless steel case, encased
in a heavy-duty plastic protective boot, the CPG1000 is extraordinarily
robust and resilient. The large 5½-digit display with selectable
backlighting makes the instrument ideal for use on site or in the
process. The clear arrangement of the function keys and the structured
menu navigation makes it remarkably easy to use. An RS232 connection and
various additional operator functions, such as MIN-/MAX memory, TARE or
Filter, ... |

NC Compact System Speeds Setting Up of NC
Joining Modules with Force-Displacement Monitoring |
| |
Kistler:
Standard joining processes, such as pressing bearings onto shafts, can
be flexibly and reliably automated by the use of electromechanical NC
joining modules from Kistler with integral
force-displacement
monitoring. Kistler's new NC Compact System now makes setting up and
operation of these modules quicker and easier. As a closed system with
integral controller and firmware it cuts capital expenditure and
installation costs, reduces susceptibility to faults and facilitates
integration into existing on-site control environments. In addition to
the NC joining module with matching IndraDrive servo controller, NC
Compact System consists of firmware (NC Compact (Type 2159A)) and
operating panel (Type 2158A) with 5,7" TFT touch screen display. The
operating panel is used for configuring the parameters of a standard
joining process, visualizing the process and backing up data. As it is
not needed for ongoing operation, a single panel is sufficient for
configuring the parameters of several joining modules. The NC Compact
firmware is preinstalled in the IndraDrive servo controller. It includes
up to 16 programs with
force-displacement
monitoring and integral
sequence control. ... |

More clarity in standards questions,
Safety seminars from Leuze electronic in demand like never before. |
| |
|
Leuze: Reforms and changes in the world of standards place new
requirements on the construction of machines and controls. But they are
also currently a source of uncertainty among mechanical engineers, plant
manufacturers and users. These appear to be the reasons why Leuze
electronic's safety seminars and standards workshops are always filled
to capacity. The interest of the participants is great, and the
willingness to partake in discussions is high. This applies not only to
the safety seminars, but also, in particular, to the workshops both on
the current changes to standards as well on the Safety Engineering
Software, Safexpert. And it applies to all event venues, which are
spread across all of Germany. The high popularity is based not only on
the need for information by the various industries, but also on the
extensive and modular seminar and workshop programme from Leuze
electronic. All details on the event contents and venues are available

| Measuring Spindle Error
Motions Made Easier |
| |
Lion
Precision’s Spindle Error Analyzer (SEA) uses noncontact
probes to measure errors in spindles in three axes while at full
operating speeds. The software analyzes the data and presents
results in linear and polar plots as well as calculated values
of error motion. The system has been used in the machine tool
and disk drive industries for over ten years. A new software
release (SEA 8.4) streamlines some of the tool’s most used
features. * The complex relationships between data acquisition
sample rate, RPM, and number of samples per revolution have been
simplified for the operator in the new Analysis Configuration
window. The window provides a visual indicator of the effects of
the current settings on processor load and system response. *
Automation has been improved with automatically incrementing
file names for sequenced measurements. ... |

COMPACTlaser Multiple Light Beam Safety
Devices for safeguarding in a collision simulator |
| |
Leuze:
When designing a collision system, there are challenges not only with
the construction of a damping system and the integration of
acceleration sensors: safeguarding also means a great challenge.
Strict safety regulations must be satisfied with such a system, since
there is an acute risk of injury during operation. The safeguarding was
realised with Multiple Light Beam Safety Devices from Leuze electronic.
At the University of Applied Sciences in Constance (Hochschule Konstanz
Technik, Wirtschaft und Gestaltung, HTWG), a collision simulator is
currently being developed in the measurement and sensor laboratory of
the Institute for Natural Sciences and Mathematics (Institut für
Naturwissenschaften und Mathematik, INM) under the direction of
Professor Klaus Durst. Positioned on a guide block is a seat with a test
person. The seat with person is driven with a defined acceleration and
speed against a shock absorber, thereby simulating a vehicle collision.
Various sensors record the different measured parameters during the
event. ... |
