Compact—more compact—LSIS 120 |
| |
The
new LSIS 120 series from Leuze electronic combines
barcode and
2D-code reading in a highly efficient and industrial-suited manner.
Until now, different systems were usually necessary for reading barcodes
and 2D codes. These times have passed for automated handling and testing
systems, robot systems and analysis automation. With the LSIS 120, Leuze
electronic has brought a code reader to market that can reliably read
one-dimensional barcodes, as well as 2D codes. The LSIS 120 (with either
RS-232 or USB interface) operates with fixed focus and a large depth of
field. Both types are characterised by a large reading field with
precise, wide-angle optics. Short read distances are also possible. All
common
barcodes and 2D codes are read omnidirectionally—they do not need
to be arranged in a specific direction. The LSIS 120 enables continuous
traceability of parts with code labels, from the raw producer to the end
consumer, as is increasingly required for circuit boards, tools, food
and in the automotive industry. Another area of use is ... |

Cognex
Corporation (NASDAQ - CGNX), the world's leading supplier of
machine
vision systems and
vision sensors, has added the Checker® 3G series to
its award-winning Checker vision sensor product line. With simple setup,
integrated part detection, lighting, I/O and job change all in a rugged
IP67 housing, Checker 3G is the easy, reliable and affordable way to
verify all products or parts on the line. With Checker 3G, the user
chooses whether to configure the sensor as a presence sensor or
measurement sensor. Presence sensors verify that features are present.
Measurement sensors verify that features are the correct height, width
and/or diameter. In either mode, there is no limit to the number of part
features that a single Checker can “check”. Checker is also able to
detect and track over 6,000ppm in varying positions along the production
line, overcoming imprecise part positioning and delivering consistent,
precisely timed pass/fall results. No other sensor,
vision sensor, or
vision system can do this. The new Cognex offering does not require a PC
for setup. Instead, the SensorView® Teach Pendant, with its unique
One-Click Setup™ technology, allows the user to set up jobs right on the
line and has them running in a matter of minutes. A single teach pendant
can be used to set up any number of Checker 3G sensors and can remain

JUMO heatTHERM-DR, the new innovative DIN
rail thermostat |
| |
The
distinguishing features of the new electromechanical thermostats from
JUMO are their great flexibility and their state-of-the-art
connection technology. The instruments of this series can be used for
all current applications that need to measure room, immersion sleeve and
surface temperatures. Thanks to the DIN rail mounting, they are quick to
install and there is no need for a complicated mounting device, as is
the case with conventional, fitted thermostats. To use this
electromechanical thermostat, the first of its kind in the world with
“Push-In®” terminal technology, simply insert the connecting wires into
the connecting points as far as they will go. That’s it! There’s no tool
to connect the wire or the strand with the ferrule and the wiring is
more reliable. This solution also saves considerable time and money,
compared with using a conventional screw terminal. “Push-in®” technology
allows loads up to 16 A to be directly connected at 230 V AC. Because a
contactor is not required, the cost of installation falls still further.
Maintenance costs are reduced, thanks to the small interval of <10 K
from the point of shutting off the safety
temperature limiter ... |

Reducing Engine Friction |
| |
Sensor
Technology Ltd: An innovative
torque sensor is helping to reduce engine emissions and improve
economy as part of a project to develop an intelligent lubrication
system. With engine efficiency under the spotlight like never before,
automotive companies are exploring all avenues for improving
performance. And because engines have a rotating power output, torque is
the key measurement. Car engines are the bett noir of the environmental
lobby. There is no doubt that they are major contributors to carbon
build up. But equally they are fundamental to modern life. A true
replacement is decades away, so we have to make them as efficient as
possible. Engine lubrication systems are essentially dumb. They have a
simple mechanical pump which has been sized to ensure an adequate supply
of oil in the worst operating condition. This is typically a hot engine
at idle. The pump is thus hugely oversized for most of the rest of the
speed range and, as a consequence, nearly 60% of its output is dumped
straight back into the sump via the relief valve. It will also deliver
the same amount of oil to every part of the engine regardless of what
that system might actually need. The pump is also insensitive to engine
load and thus the bearings will receive the same ... |

Wireless
Temperature Sensors for Rough Environment |
| |
Manner
Sensortelemetrie developed a new 'Plug and Play'
wireless temperature sensor for rough test stand operation
especially for supervision of critical temperatures of devices. The
temperature sensor is extremely robust, simple to handle and needs no
change of the batteries within a ½ year of operational time. Typical
applications are: * Monitoring of the damper temperature while shaking
test of the complete vehicle * Supervision of the bearing temperatures
on the drive shafts * Supervision of the bearing temperature on the gear
* Supervision of the oil temperature * Supervision of the cooling water
* General supervision of test stands, etc. The wireless
temperature sensor is mounted at the measuring point via a clamp.
The integrated temperature sensor measures the temperature of the
device's surface and transmits the data to the receiving unit via radio
transmission. The measuring range for this method is -40 to +120°
Celsius. For very hot temperature measurements a standard thermocouple
can be attached to the wireless temperature sensor that is located at a
cooler location. The sampling rate of the wireless temperature sensors
is programmable and 1 second at default ... |

New SCHMIDT® Flow-Sensor SS 20.500 for
dusty environments |
| |
SCHMIDT
Technology presents for the first time the new
flow sensors SS 20.500 for application in chemical processes on the
international exhibition ACHEMA in Frankfurt. The measurement of flow
velocity in dusty environments results in particular sensor
requirements. Dirt tolerant design and easy cleaning are of high
importance to guarantee measuring accuracy and reproducibility. Unwanted
accumulation of dust and contamination on the sensor tip can be avoided
by an optimized aerodynamic flow. Therefore, the sensor dumb-bell tip
was developed and the patented system has been proved in many
applications. Due to its extreme wide flow angle of 360° axial and 90°
radial direction, the sensor is easy to position in the air flow and the
wide measuring range of 0.06 up to 35 m/s offers many applications like
flow measuring in dust exhaustions, control of supply and exhaust air or
drying processes. In order to meet the requirements of explosion
protection for gas and dust, the sensor can be delivered in an ATEX
version on demand. SCHMIDT Technology offers this sensor at a very low
price of more less than one thousand Euro. As an option, the sensor tip
can be protected by a special coating and makes the sensor resistant
against salt acid, acetone or sulphuric acid. ... |
