Tiny trace detection at high speed for
medical vials |
| |
A
major pharmaceutical manufacturer relies on Cognex In-Sight
vision as part of their inspection machines designed to inspect small
vials containing serum as well as detecting even the tiniest impurities
within the serum. The In-Sight 5603 proved the only solution for this
kind of sensitive high speed inspection. IPF Ingenieria are based in
Barcelona in Spain and manufacture special machines destined for high
profile industrial customers. One particular customer , Fresenius Kabi,
a global leader in infusion therapy and clinical nutrition, needed a
special machine capable of tackling the challenge of inspecting small
vials of serum. IPF provided them with a machine equipped with In-Sight
vision systems from Cognex as recommended and integrated by Cognex
partner, Edge Vision. In this application, In-Sight cameras were
installed to inspect the levels of liquid in vials of serum as well as
inspecting for impurities at a speed of 10,000 bottles an hour. ... |

Fiber Optic Rotary Encoder for MRI and
other Extreme Electromagnetic Environments |
| |
Micronor’s
TD5207 non-metallic
fiber optic rotary encoder is designed specifically
for use in motion control systems operating in extreme electromagnetic
fields. Medical diagnostic and research applications include MRI
(magnetic resonance imaging) or NMR tomography (nuclear magnetic
resonance) imaging systems. Industrial applications include
electromagnetic phase or similar separation processes. The
encoder also
serves as the control feedback for pneumatic or hydraulic drive systems
purposely operated in these same extreme environments and applications.
Based on Micronor’s patented ZapFREE™
Fiber Optic Rotary Encoder
technology, the all-optical, totally passive TD5207
Encoder / Sensor is
identical in design to Micronor’s MR3XX series
fiber optic encoders
except for its construction of non-metallic materials. In operation, the
TD5207 Sensor links to the same MR310 Remote Encoder Interface Module
via a single fiber link – which can be up to 1000 meters long. The
"active" MR310 Module directly provides an array of conventional
digital/analog speed and position feedback signals, including: A/B quadrature signals, programmable analog outputs (both 4-20mA and 0-10V)
and ... |

New Options for Spark Plug Sensors |
| |
Piezocryst
Advanced Sensorics: By combining the expertise of the AVL group, AVL
DiTEST and Piezocryst have created a novel product for tuning shops,
garages, as well as all motorsports. The combination of Piezocrysts’
sensor know-how with the systems knowledge of AVL DiTEST enables us to
create an inexpensive, easy to use measurement and diagnosis system for
cylinder pressure by determining essential engine parameters for
performance improvements or diagnostic testing. The system is based on
sensor solutions that utilize the existing engine bores and thereby
enable a fast and simple assembly. To achieve this, the pressure inside
the cylinder is measured by replacing the glow plug in diesel vehicles
by a compliant mounting pressure sensor and the sparkplug in gasoline
engines by a pressure measuring sparkplug. The measurement provides a
variety of information such as compression or maximal pressure. It also
detects irregular combustion in gasoline engines (such as detonation and
preignition) and in combination with the crank angle signal, the
position of fractional mass burn (e.g. crank angle to achieve 50% mass
burn), the indicated mean effective pressure, or the torque-time
performance of each cylinder. . ... |

New Switching Adapter Type 7533A... |
| |
Kistler
offers a multitude of cooling and switching adapters for
accurate
measurement of absolute pressure in the exhaust system of combustion
engines. Sensors installed in cooling adapters are constantly exposed to
the exhaust gases, while sensors in switching adapters only come into
contact with the exhaust gases during the measuring periods. When the
switching adapter is not activated the diaphragm is exposed to ambient
pressure. This increases the life of the sensors, particularly in
combustion engines with high exhaust temperatures and high pressure
fluctuations. The new switching adapter Type 7533A... has a M14x1,25
thread for connection to the exhaust system. In order to be able to use
existing bores, the adapters 7543A1 (G1/2”) and 7543A2 (M18x1,5/thread
lambda probe) are available. Various models of the switching adapter are
available for the sensors ... |

Innovative Piezo-electric Force Washers
Expand the Sensor Portfolio at Hottinger Baldwin Messtechnik GmbH |
| |
Piezocryst
Advanced Sensorics: Piezocryst and HBM introduce new
piezo-electric
force washers for industrial process control. A new innovation in force
measurement technology was being introduced to an audience of
specialists at the SPS/IPC/DRIVES trade fair in Nürnberg. The two new
force washers cover a force range up to 50kN and 140 kN and offer all
the advantages of piezoelectric measurement technology: Extremely robust
and virtually displacement-free, highly dynamic measurement in a compact
size. The force washers offer innovation, which puts them above
conventional rings. Due to their patented (patent pending) construction
with a split membrane function, the housing becomes more symmetric and
the actual membrane becomes more warp resistant. This characteristic
elevates measurement safety during processes where the force
introduction into the rings is critical (for example, from the retainer
of a ball-bearing). In addition, this ring can be installed with
positive locking, without influencing the measurement through friction
on the inner ring surface. In conventional force washers, this often
manifests itself in the form of an unwanted hysteresis. The sensors
already show an impressively high linearity under minimal tension, thus
making it possible to measure even minimal forces ... |

Kavlico
Pressure Sensors are Ideal for
Next Generation Modulated Furnaces |
| |
Moorpark,
CA – Kavlico, a global business unit of Custom Sensors &
Technologies (CST), has developed two new, high accuracy,
low-pressure
sensors for
pressure measurement applications in next generation
modulated furnaces. The model P992 is ideally suited to measure airflow,
while the P356 measures propane or natural gas flow. The rapid
escalation of energy costs over the past several years has “fueled” a
new urgency to improve the efficiency of residential and commercial
heating systems. Kavlico’s
high precision pressure sensors provide
furnace controls suppliers with a device that assists with combustion
optimization parameters making the furnace efficiency jump from 65% to
95%. P992
