| Easily integrated pressure
transmitters for OEMs with digital and ratiometric interfaces |
| |
Keller
AG: Thanks to the Chip-in-Oil (CiO) technology
developed at Keller, the trend toward miniaturization is
now becoming a reality. In our Series 4 LC...9 LC
pressure transmitters, the special ASIC for signal
processing is fitted directly next to the
pressure sensor, in the same housing, under oil, and
with the exclusion of air. This yields a host of
advantages in terms of application: all the key pressure
measurement components are now protected against the
risks from humidity and condensation. The interior
wiring is implemented with short, lightweight bonding
wires, while sintered-in pressure-resistant glass
leadthroughs feed the transmitter signals out. Together
with the high-grade steel housing, they form a Faraday
cage around the measuring system, acting as feedthrough
capacitors. This makes the CiO technology absolutely RFI
resistant up to field strengths of 250 V/m and for
frequencies of up to 4 GHz. Series 4 LC...9 LC pressure
transmitters offer two output signals: a ratiometric
analog voltage output and a digital inter-integrated
circuit interface (I2C). The ratiometric signal
eliminates the need for an expensive voltage reference
in the support electronics to the A/D converter, with no
additional effort and expense for compensation and
calibration. For a voltage supply of 5,0 V, the output
signal is specified as 0,5 ... 4,5 V. The transmitters
provide constant protection against overvoltage and ... |

Cognex DataMan Takes a Quantum Leap in Barcode Reading
Performance |
| |
Cognex
Corporation announced its most advanced fixed-mount
industrial ID reader ever created—the DataMan® 300. The
DataMan 300 is designed to handle the most difficult ID
code-reading applications on even the highest speed lines. These
new readers dramatically increase barcode read rates and speed
with a new 1DMax+™ algorithm, which incorporates groundbreaking
new “Hotbars™” technology. For 2-D matrix and difficult-to-read
DPM (Direct Part Mark) codes, reading performance has also been
significantly improved from a major upgrade of 2DMax™ to the
2DMax+™ algorithm. With the DataMan 300, set up and deployment
is even easier than before, with modular, controllable lighting
options and a unique intelligent tuning system. “It just reads.
Period. The DataMan 300 can read any code we challenge it with,”
said Carl Gerst, Vice President and Business Unit Manager, ID
Products. “Besides unprecedented read rates, the DataMan 300
reader is our easiest to install and maintain ... |

The world´s smallest NDIR CO2 sensor |
| |
SenseAir
presents the world’s smallest
CO2 sensor, SenseAir® S8, which despite its small size has
the same excellent performance as SenseAir’s other sensors. 20
years experience of research and development within the field of
infrared gas sensing has now brought us the world´s smallest
NDIR CO2 sensor - SenseAir® S8. The sensor is designed for high
volume production with full traceability by sensor serial number
on all manufacturing processes and key components. Every sensor
is individually calibrated and is provided with UART digital
interface. The sensor is maintenance-free and has an estimated
life time of more than 15 years. SenseAir® S8 is a module that
is designed for simple integration into other products.
SenseAir® S8 can be used in a wide range of applications such as
in ventilation control to improve energy savings and to assure a
good indoor climate. Other fields of use are personal safety and
measurements to increase process yield and to increase economic
value in biorelated ... |

New Epson Inertial Measurement Unit Offers World CLASS Energy
Consumption and Size |
| |
Seiko
Epson Corporation announced the commercial
development of a new inertial measurement unit (*1)
(IMU) named the S4E5A0A0. The new IMU provides stable,
accurate measurement capability and among the lowest
power consumption and smallest form factor in its
class*. Epson has begun shipping samples in July 2011.
IMUs are devices that can accurately sense inertial
motion, from slight inclinations to large movements.
Traditionally, IMUs were embedded in specialized
equipment for aerospace applications and other uses that
require highly accurate, stable measurement of inertial
measurement. Then, several years ago, IMUs developed for
industrial applications began finding their way into a
variety of products in this growing new market. However,
these industrial IMUs not only needed to be more
accurate and stable, they also needed to be smaller and
draw less power, to make them easier to embed in
products in this market. Recognizing this need, Epson, a
leader in the crystal device industry, set out to
develop a new IMU, using an original approach that
combined its patented QMEMS(*2) quartz gyroscopic
(angular rate) sensors(*3) with the semiconductor
technology and know-how it developed for GPS and other
positioning devices. ... |

| LBA Low Pressure Sensors Offer Special
Versions With Highest Resolution for Respiration Applications |
| |
Sensortechnics’
LBA series offers
differential low pressure sensors based on thermal
mass flow measurement of air through a micro-flow
channel integrated within the silicon sensor chip. The
sensors are ideal for differential pressure flow
measurement where the pressure drop across a flow
element is a
measure of the volumetric flow rate. For high
performance medical respiratory devices it is essential
to detect very small flows around the zero flow point
while additionally being able to measure full scale
flows of several hundreds of l/min. For these demanding
requirements Sensortechnics now offers special versions
of its LBA sensors with increased resolution of 0.01 %
in the lower pressure range and at the same time high
dynamic ranges greater than 10,000. The LBA sensors
feature an innovative MEMS construction which integrates
the micro-flow channel and fully analog CMOS signal
conditioning within the silicon sensor chip. This
decreases the flow through the LBA sensor by several
magnitudes compared to other flow-based pressure sensors
and allows high immunity to condensation and dust
contamination. Further, the LBA differential pressure
sensors can be used with long connecting tubes and input
filters without the need to recalibrate or correct the
output signal. Because the flow impedance is predefined
at the sensor chip level the LBA series ... |

| Setting features – on-site encoder-setting |
| |
Contelec
has launched a new
rotary encoder solution, which enables on-site
configuration of
angle sensors based on Vert-X MH-C2 technology after
installation. The solution, referred to as ‘setting
features’, makes it extremely easy to install rotary
encoders. Precise setting of the zero or middle points,
start and end points and the sense of rotation without
the need for any set-up aids significantly simplifies
installation and adjustment. To facilitate
parameterisation, the rotary encoders with integral
‘setting features’ have two additional digital inputs
(Set 1 and Set 2), which are used to set the sense of
rotation (CW, CCW), index points (zero point or middle
point) or start and end points as often as needed. This
process could not be easier. All that is needed for a
standard set-up procedure is to connect the two input
leads to ground in a specific sequence. The configured
parameters are saved in non-volatile memory on the
devices. Rotary encoders with integral ‘setting
features’ eliminate the need for mechanical adjustment
of the angle sensors, permitting high-precision angle
measurement in systems in which mechanical adjustment is ... |

RECHNER:
Abrasive wear caused by contact with products such as
sand, grain or plastic shreds, damages the active
surface of many standard capacitive proximity sensors,
and finally destroys the sensor. Rechner Sensors offer
sensors where the active surface is ceramic making them
ideal for applications that involve the
level control of
such abrasive bulk material. These
capacitive sensors are available
in body sizes M30 x 1,5 and M32 x 1,5. ... |
